Ohio University is hiring a Peer Tutor/Peer-Assisted Learning Leader/Undergraduate Writing Commons Tutor. The role involves providing academic support to undergraduate students through tutoring sessions, facilitating review groups, and assisting with writing projects. Candidates will conduct sessions both online and in-person, promote independent learning, complete required training, and maintain confidentiality in compliance with FERPA standards.

Provide academic support through peer tutoring, peer-assisted learning sessions, or writing commons tutoring.
Engage students in discussions of course materials, learning strategies, study skills, and writing development.
Complete 10 hours of paid training and attend all scheduled tutoring or PAL sessions punctually.
Use scheduling software (TracCloud) and communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams and email.
Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations.
Must be enrolled at Ohio University or another post-secondary institution and able to work 6-12 hours weekly throughout the semester.
Preferred qualifications include a minimum 3.0 GPA, a grade of B or higher in relevant courses, prior tutoring or leadership experience, and ability to support 1000- and 2000-level courses.
Pay rate is $11.30 per hour; employment is part-time and non-exempt.
Work hours align with Academic Achievement Center operations, Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Interact regularly with students, faculty, and staff at multiple campus locations including Athens, Chillicothe, Eastern, Lancaster, Southern, and Zanesville campuses.
