Principal DevOps Engineer (PeopleFluent) Full Description

Job Overview:
You have 10+ years of experience and own the design, automation, and operation of hybrid infrastructure spanning on-premises datacenters and AWS. You set technical direction for compute, networking, and platform services, and drive improvements in scalability, security, and reliability. You lead advanced projects end to end, document and govern changes through structured processes, and mentor others across hosting. You are a Subject Matter Expert in one or more infrastructure domains, such as virtualization, cloud architecture, or observability.

Responsibilities:
  • Own and maintain Peoplefluent Hosting pipeline and automation infrastructure.
  • Own the technical vision and architecture for the hosting infrastructure, setting direction across compute, networking, and platform services to ensure design decisions align with long-term scalability, security, and maintainability goals.
  • Be a self starter - proactively identify the infra optimization opportunities.
  • Be hands-on in scaling and securing the company’s infrastructure.
  • Collaborate across engineering and product teams to define requirements
  • Communicate trade-offs of technical design.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • Experience with Enterprise Linux(selinux policies, standard configuration and enforcement, headless server management etc)
  • Strong network fundamentals(dhcp, subnetting)
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., Proxmox, vSphere), including advanced cluster configuration and networking such as VLANs, virtual switches, and network segmentation.
  • Experience in owning and administering monitoring/observability tools - Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.
  • Experience in git, shell scripting
  • Strong knowledge and experience with AWS: EC2, S3, RDS, Route53 etc..
  • Hands on experience with the provisioning/orchestration/Administration: Terraform, ansible, kubernetes
  • Experience in release and deploy automation using Jenkins
  • Experience managing configuration changes through a structured change control process, including but not limited to Git-based workflows such as branching, pull requests, and code review.

Bonus points:
  • Experience in datacenter operations - e.g., network switches automated configuration.
  • Experience in automating basic firewall rules
  • Database administration(Oracle, MySql, PostgreSql, Microsoft SQL)
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Kafka
  • Experience working in an Agile and Scrum environment
  • Web-based/SaaS company background
