McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational solutions, is looking for a Principal Product Designer within our K-12 division who will be responsible for creating and implementing the design operations vision, strategy, and workflow for our Product Design team. 
 
The Principal Designer will develop, optimize, and harmonize, guidelines, standards, and workflows that enable the Product Design team to create effective and engaging teaching and learning experiences for our world-class educational print and digital products. As part of this role, you will:
  • Develop and maintain tools, processes, workflows, service descriptions, and guidelines for the end-to-end design and media development life cycle for both internal teams and vendors
  • Optimize ways of working for the design team 
  • Create and maintain an easy-to-use central repository for documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on multi-functional workflows and processes
  • Proactively share your wealth of knowledge and deep expertise in design operations methodologies, and best practices. 
  • Identifies patterns of risk across portfolios and work to identify potential systematic changes or process improvements
  • Assist in onboarding new employees and vendors

The Principal Product Designer will report to the Director of Product Design and is accountable for managing design operations across the department. You will operate in an environment that requires excellent problem-solving skills and exceptional team collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills. 
This position can work remotely within the continental United States but can also be based in one of our McGraw Hill offices.  
 
We are looking for someone with:
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or related field required. MFA or advanced degree a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in educational product development
  • Strategic thinking with strong organizational and project management skills
  • Expert knowledge of Smartsheet, Lucidchart, Office 365
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop

The pay range for this position is between $75,000-$85,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location.
