Job Description:
About the Role
We are entering a new chapter in how universities use technology. Not as "edtech," but as core institutional capability.
We're looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead our mobile products and agentic AI communication platform, shaping how students, faculty, and staff interact with the university in an increasingly intelligent and mobile-first world.
Mobile is the primary digital touchpoint for many users. At the same time, advances in AI are enabling systems that can proactively assist, guide, and automate complex workflows. In this role, you will define how these two forces, mobile experience and intelligent agents, come together to deliver seamless, trustworthy, and human-centered digital interactions.
You will help move the university beyond isolated tools and experiments toward cohesive, scalable platforms that augment human capability while upholding institutional values and public trust.
About You
You are a strategic, empathetic, and impact-driven product leader who thrives at the intersection of mobile experience, AI innovation, and institutional transformation.
You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and emerging technology while grounding decisions in user needs, measurable outcomes, and responsible governance.
You elevate teams by connecting daily work to long-term strategy and customer impact. You bring clarity where others see complexity.
Position Salary Range: $103,700.00 - $125,000.00; DOE
Essential Duties
Lead the University's Mobile Strategy. Define and evolve a comprehensive mobile product strategy that ensures students, faculty, and staff can complete critical tasks seamlessly from anywhere. Elevate mobile from feature parity to differentiated, intuitive experiences that reflect how people actually live and work.
Build and Scale Agentic AI Communication. Shape the vision and roadmap for our AI-powered communication agent that can assist users with decision-making, navigation, task completion, and personalized guidance. Ensure these systems are transparent, responsible, and clearly augment, not replace, human expertise.
Integrate Mobile and AI into a Cohesive Experience. Ensure AI capabilities are thoughtfully embedded within mobile experiences, creating proactive and context-aware support that simplifies complexity rather than adding to it.
Set Direction for the Next Chapter of Digital Transformation. Define and communicate a long-term strategy for intelligent, adaptive platforms that prioritize interoperability, accessibility, privacy, and trust.
Connect Strategy to Measurable Outcomes. Translate institutional goals into clear product visions, outcome-based roadmaps, and success metrics that reflect real improvements in engagement, efficiency, retention, and satisfaction.
Navigate Complexity Across Systems and Audiences. Lead initiatives that span multiple platforms, departments, and user groups. Bring clarity to competing priorities and ensure alignment across leadership, stakeholders, and delivery teams.
Lead Responsible AI Adoption. Establish clear principles for ethical AI use, including transparency, bias mitigation, data stewardship, and accountability. Build confidence across the institution through thoughtful communication and governance.
Lead Through Influence. Partner closely with engineering, design, research, data, and university leadership to align on trade-offs, sequencing, and execution, building shared ownership and trust.
Mentor and Elevate Product Leaders. Coach senior product managers to think systemically, lead with confidence, and operate with clear ownership, reinforcing a shift from order-takers to strategic leaders.
Strengthen Product Practice and Culture. Advance consistent discovery, validation, experimentation, and delivery practices. Ensure initiatives follow a disciplined, transparent process from hypothesis to measurable outcome.
Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit's efficiency and overall performance.
Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.
