Principal Software Product Manager Full Description

WGU is hiring a Principal Software Product Manager, the most senior individual-contributor role within its Product organization. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop strategic product roadmaps spanning multiple product domains, working directly with senior and executive leaders on the university's most challenging problems.
Job duties:
  • Own the most difficult products and strategies, requiring high levels of coordination and collaboration across domains
  • Lead cross-functional steering committees to track strategy and ensure alignment with business metrics and goals
  • Work closely with stakeholders, engineers, UX designers, and product leaders to define requirements and inform product vision
  • Design experiments testing tradeoffs between user experience, technology constraints, and business value
  • Write business cases, conduct ROI analyses, and present in quarterly planning activities
  • Define product release strategies and success metrics, monitoring and pivoting as needed
  • Mentor and guide less-experienced Product Managers through formal mentorship assignments
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field; 10 years of experience as a Software Product Manager, Product Owner, or Group Product Manager, including at least 3 years at a Senior or Group level; a professional product certification (e.g., CSPO, Pragmatic Marketing); and experience working in Agile environments. Equivalent relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Compensation and benefits: The estimated pay range for this position is $180,300-$279,500.
