Job Overview:
As a Principal UI/UX Designer within ExploreLearning’s product development organization, you will be responsible for shaping the designs of our products to impact young learners’ and educator’s lives in rewarding ways. This role is responsible for working with Product Management, Product Design, Instructional Design and Engineering to create user experiences and interfaces for our suite of educational software products. These products are used by students, teachers, and school administrators in K-12 classrooms and school offices across the U.S.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead and define specifications for our product User Experience, ensuring that our product’s users are able to understand and achieve their goals with our products.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to understand requirements and develop creative and thoughtful solutions to meet a project’s goals.
  • Present, discuss, advocate for, and deliver design deliverables at various stages of the product design process to include conceptual diagrams, wireframes, storyboards, mockups, and prototypes.
  • Develop UI Mockups that specify the products to be implemented by our developers, ensure that the final products meet the appropriate goals.
  • Conduct concept and usability testing; gather and evaluate user feedback.
  • Participate in team retrospectives, backlog grooming, and other Agile ceremonies and team meetings.
  • Establish and advocate for UX/UI best practices, guidelines and standards.

Job Requirements:
  • 10+ years of product design experience.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates process and craftsmanship.
  • Adept in a consultative role.  Should be a fast learner, skilled at developing solutions that consider and consolidate varied interests and viewpoints
  • Hands-on experience with research and testing.
  • Proficiency in Figma, Mac Sketch, Illustrator or equivalent modern UI design/prototyping tools.
  • Adept at rapid prototyping of key concepts.
  • Able and willing to provide and receive effective and actionable feedback.
  • Confidently communicate thoughts and ideas to and across project teams.
  • Be unrelenting in the pursuit of quality.
  • Be a proactive and critical voice in tactical decision-making processes.
  • Generate unique and holistic divergent solutions in early stages of the design process.
  • Evaluate design solutions to decide on ideal design direction.
  • Write clear, concise, and consistent copy for interface designs and formal
  • communications.
  • Up to date on new trends and facilitates or challenges their adoption.

Nice to Have's:
  • Experience applying learning and instructional design patterns to construct user experiences.
  • Experience working closely with education subject matter experts developing online learning solutions.
  • Previous experience designing learning experience solutions
  • Experience developing and promoting continued improvement of learning experiences.
