Job Description 
Summary: 
The Product Designer will work on concepts, sketching, prototyping, and designing digital educational assessments, reporting tools, and intervention products for Kindergarten–12th grade, from the research and planning stages to final asset delivery. In this role, the candidate will collaborate with designers, developers, a product owner, QA engineers, and key stakeholders in an iterative, agile process.

The ideal candidate will understand a product’s vision and guiding design principles, and translate them into unique and comprehensive design solutions.

The Product Designer will demonstrate solid conceptual, visualization, and communication skills during all phases of creative development, from inception to asset delivery. This position requires a deep understanding of current technologies and design trends, and a desire to push the limits of innovation, creativity, and storytelling using digital platforms.
*This is a Fixed-Term role with an anticipated end date of October 31, 2026.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Understand research findings and product requirements
  • Brainstorm creative solutions and capture ideas "on paper" (freehand or digital sketches)
  • Design original prototypes based on a thorough understanding of the product vision and user stories
  • Create high-quality, engaging designs with strong attention to detail within project time frames
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and teammates on iterations and final deliverables
  • Oversee proper implementation of designs with developers and QA engineers
  • Develop concepts into screen flows and diagrams
  • Produce high-fidelity wireframes and design specifications
  • Design for a range of devices, including tablets and phones
  • Design for a range of users, including educators and young students
  • Collaborate with developers, illustrators, writers, and stakeholders

Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience with end-to-end product design
  • Experience representing or working with data visualization within UI
  • Proven ability to create and export UI assets
  • Understanding of how qualitative research and data inform product and design decisions
  • Awareness of user roles and permissions in multi-user tools or platforms
  • Strong visual design and typographic sensibility
  • Interaction design expertise and experience collaborating with engineers
  • Familiarity with working within and contributing to design systems and component libraries
  • Experience using storytelling in stakeholder communications
  • Expertise with Figma, Adobe CC, and Notion
  • Experience designing responsive desktop and mobile experiences

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with digital product design in education technology or a related field
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to the landscape of education
  • Experience designing with accessibility as a priority
  • Understanding of how structured data or metadata informs UX
  • Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Ability to gather and document user experience requirements
  • Experience with data visualization, visual design, or game design
  • Experience designing features or tools that enable user-generated content
  • Lived experience teaching or tutoring K–12 students
  • Formal education in Interaction Design, Communication Design, User Experience, or a related field

The gross salary range for this role is $81,000 - $90,000.
