Position Summary: The Product Manager, Learning Management Systems (LMS) leads the strategic development, management, and optimization of the university’s LMS platform and related systems that are critical to NYU’s academic mission. Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of any changes to the LMS platform, including: identify the evolving needs of faculty, students, and staff, and capture as business requirements/users stories; create functional designs; work with vendors, developers, and other NYU IT teams as required to implement new features and integrations; lead the testing any change prior to their released into production; work to ensure the seamless day-to-day operation of the system; manage relationships with stakeholders and vendors. Work with the Director to develop a comprehensive NYU product roadmap, in line with vendor product roadmaps, integrating inputs from stakeholders as appropriate. Collaborate closely with instructional designers, IT professionals, academic leaders, and end users to ensure the LMS is aligned with pedagogical needs and best practices, as well as institutional goals. Act as the university’s subject matter expert on LMS trends and advancements, leading efforts to adopt innovative solutions that enhance teaching and learning experiences. Ensure the LMS is scalable, secure, and user-friendly, while providing the required technical support that empowers the university community to leverage the system effectively. Qualifications: Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Technology-related field or equivalent training and experience.
Required Experience:
5+ years of functional experience, or equivalent experience, with Learning Management Systems and related teaching and learning technology tools; requirements gathering; troubleshooting complex technology problems; and managing the work of technical resources.Experience managing a Learning Management System or a similar enterprise platform and/or experience related to teaching and learning tools. Must include previous experience in troubleshooting complex technical problems and managing a team.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent analytical, problem solving skills and knowledge of enterprise software and web applications; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Hands-on configuration experience with a Learning Management System or other complex user-facing enterprise application. Proven ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Brightspace (D2L) Learning Management System. Third-party LTI tools, Experience working in a large, complex institution/company with global reach. Understanding of instructional design principles and educational technology.
Additional Information: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $120,000.00 to USD $140,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
