Professional Development Learning Specialist

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Overview: 
The Professional Development Learning Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering in person and virtual learning programs to improve overall team member professional skills and boost performance while focusing on building relationships with stakeholders, peers, and members. 
 
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Works with leaders to understand needs, identify skill gaps, and evaluate/drive curriculum that fills those gaps.
  • Designs and facilitates sessions in the proper modality to meet the needs whether in-person, virtual, or hybrid. Provides follow up with post session debriefs and huddles as appropriate.
  • Practices effective facilitation techniques in classroom and virtual sessions to meet performance objectives creating an environment that stimulates learning and skill development.
  • Understands and models the use of professional development models and skills. Exhibits skills and behaviors in their everyday work. Provides positive and constructive feedback to guide learners to desired performance outcomes.
  • Continuously reviews class surveys and solicits feedback to learn opportunities for improvement from participants, stakeholders, and leaders. Evaluates and proposes where to make necessary improvements.
  • Creates effective resources and thoroughly leverages those resources to ensure training content is relevant and impactful.
  • Partners with peers to coordinate training efforts and topics to ensure there is positive and impactful correlation amongst training curriculums, ensure consistency in approach and provide feedback on needed program modifications to meet participants’ needs while also maintaining the business objectives of the learning programs
  • Serves as a strong discussion leader asking thought-provoking questions and interacting effectively in the moment to pursue discussions where they lead, to connect the learning to learners’ experiences and allow them to learn via self-discovery
  • Relates to and works effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and personalities.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and resourcefulness; can improvise effectively to seamlessly address unexpected situations that arise.  
  • Actively participates in continuous training, networking and vendor relationship opportunities to stay up to date on the latest trends, regulations, and best practices in the industry applicable to the role 

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in adult learning, instructional design, organizational development, education, or related study required.
  • At least 5 years experience in a facilitator and instructional design role, showcasing the ability to create and lead effective learning experiences.
  • At least 2 years experience working in financial services industry preferred.
  • Certifications in and/or experience with standard professional programs and models including APTD, CPTD, DDI, MBTI, DiSC required. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced ability to possess and model comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of adult learning
  • Thorough ability to establish credibility with the audience by knowing the content area, providing relevant examples, and linking the material to the participants’ job experiences and challenges.
  • Strong training design and facilitations skills both in a classroom and virtual setting.
  • High proficiency with learning platforms and content delivery systems
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
