Job Description  | The Trainer will serve as a key staff member for a statewide initiative funded by the New York State Council on Developmental Disabilities (CDD) to build and sustain a self-advocacy network for people with developmental disabilities. This position is responsible for developing and delivering training sessions for self-advocates, parents, and community partners on topics related to disability rights, education advocacy, and access to services.

The Trainer will support both in-person and virtual delivery models, collaborate with peer mentors and subject matter experts, and contribute to resource development and data collection efforts. The Trainer will represent the Center on Disability and Inclusion (CDI) at statewide events and support efforts to increase equitable access to advocacy resources in underserved communities.

Education and Experience  | Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience.

Skills and Knowledge  | Strong understanding of disability rights and advocacy systems. Experience with adult learning and accessible training methods. Proficiency in both virtual and in-person training delivery. Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of special education and human service systems. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and working with underserved populations. Experience in community engagement and collaborative program design.
