Job Summary

As a member of the Ease Learning Operations group, the Project Manager has shared accountability for the successful delivery of curriculum development and related projects. The project manager’s primary responsibility is to lead project teams in their creation of deliverables within an agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget. This high-profile position requires an individual with strong leadership, sound judgment, creative problem-solving ability, excellent organizational and communication skills, acute attention to detail, the ability to synthesize information from various resources, and a desire to tackle complex issues in a positive and productive manner.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related activities, make decisions that impact the success of the project, and escalate issues
  • Work with LLDs and LLXDs, sales partners, and other stakeholders to define project scope, cost, and timeline that aligns and supports the goals of the customer
  • Lead project planning activities, including developing the project plan, assessing and minimizing project risk, negotiating ICAs, and coordinating or performing routine tasks related to procuring resources and materials
  • Clarify and communicate team and stakeholder roles and responsibilities on individual projects
  • Launch projects internally, as well as externally, with both project teams and the customer
  • Monitor and control projects using appropriate project management software and tools; anticipate and manage changes to the scope, schedule, and budget
  • Manage the independent contractor relationship, including fee negotiation, hiring and firing, working with LLDs and LLXDs to set and reinforce performance expectations, and approving invoices
  • Collaborate with internal resources, external resources, and customer contacts by organizing and facilitating meetings, clarifying processes, brainstorming solutions, and assisting in conflict resolution
  • Maintain project documentation, including project and budget tracking, status reports, meeting notes, and historical data
  • Deliver projects on time, within budget; conduct tasks related to the successful project close
  • Provide project leadership that promotes positive, collaborative, and collegial internal and customer relationships
  • Contribute to the development of team processes, tools, and resources

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in project management, education, business, or other related field
  • 3+ years in traditional Waterfall or Agile project management supporting curriculum development or educational services, or 5+ years in a role that utilizes project management skills related to curriculum development and/or higher education
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate and lead diverse project teams having various, dissimilar roles and responsibilities in a virtual/remote environment
  • Ability to synthesize expert judgment from various resources and make project decisions that balance the needs of quality, time, cost, and scope
  • Effective and persuasive written and verbal communication required for dealing with resources and customers at the professional, executive level messaging project information in a way that is constructive to project goals
  • Prior use of project management software, e.g., Project, SmartSheet, QuickBase, JIRA/Confluence, etc.; intermediate use of Google suite
  • Strong technical aptitude demonstrated ability to quickly learn about and use computer-based systems for functional planning, reporting, communicating, ordering, storing, and retrieving information and materials ability to grasp the high-level functionality of digital assets and learning management systems 
  • Strong appreciation for cultivating and maintaining positive customer relationships and facilitating service to customers
  • Demonstrated passion for process improvement, problem-solving, and working with a collaborative spirit
