Department Summary

The Division of the Chief of Staff (DCOS) serves as a strategic hub for alignment, execution, and community impact at UNT Health. Guided by our commitment to connecting strategy to action, risk to resilience, and community to purpose, we partner across the university and broader community to ensure priorities are advanced with clarity, accountability, and collaboration.

The division oversees four key areas of focus:

  • Strategy & Planning – Driving institutional priorities forward through integrated planning, performance tracking, and alignment with the UNT System and Board of Regents.
  • Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) – Anticipating and managing risks to safeguard the health science center’s mission, people, and operations.
  • Project Management Office (PMO) – Providing tools, expertise, and oversight for strategic and special projects, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, on scope, and with measurable impact.
  • Community Engagement – Building strong, meaningful partnerships with community stakeholders to enhance UNT Health’s visibility and strengthen our role as a trusted partner in advancing health and well-being.

Position Overview

The Division of the Chief of Staff at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Project Manager II to join our team. The Project Manager II is a highly visible member of the team responsible for project evolution from concept to completion in an interprofessional, collaborative venue. The Project Manager II is responsible for assuring project collaboration in a timely manner sufficient to produce intended outcomes. This role is also responsible for regular reporting of strategic initiatives, quality improvement, and special projects within and impacting the department.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a business or a related field and five (5) years experience managing institutional wide projects, and working with project management related tools, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of concepts and principles of project management.
  • Understanding of how project management integrates within day-to-day processes.
  • Ability to lead and direct teams on various projects at the same time, and able to problem solve using judgment based on the analysis of information.
  • Developed interpersonal skills to exchange project information with multiple audiences.
  • Reliable team leader with the ability to consistently perform tasks independently and as a member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

  • PMP required.

Job Duties

  • Use pm skills and tools to manage and/or support large, multifaceted projects and initiatives for the institution.
  • Assist with the preparation and completion of project action plans resolve problems and assist with implementing changes.
  • Analyze data to assist with development and dissemination of reports as requested by leadership that will guide decisions in the organization.
  • Facilitate meetings with senior leaders and stakeholders within the organization around projects.
