Project Manager, Learning Products

Remote
Contractor

About the Role
TorranceLearning is leading the design and development of a large curriculum of self-paced elearning (and some vILT) for a critical Federal agency initiative. We’re seeking a Project Manager to support the Lead Project Manager and Program Manager in keeping delivery operations running smoothly across a high-volume development pipeline.

This work follows our LLAMA® Agile approach and a structured iterative lifecycle. You’ll support the Program Management team by running the delivery “engine” behind the scenes: keeping ClickUp and schedules clean, coordinating review cycles and sign-offs, tracking burn/variance, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders so multiple modules can move through LLAMA iterations smoothly and on time.

Job Details
  • Pay rate: $55–65/hour (1099)
  • Weekly hours: ~32–48 hours depending on project phase and client response (hours are not guaranteed).
  • Location: Remote; all work must be completed within the United States.
  • Collaboration hours: This project runs on Eastern Time business hours and requires daytime availability for real-time collaboration.
  • Travel is not required; any client-required travel would be paid.
  • You must be able to secure Public Trust clearance prior to contract start.

How Delivery Works
Work is delivered in waves using LLAMA® iterations: Skeleton → Alpha → Beta → Final.
  • Work is delivered in waves: up to 5 modules in development at once
  • Each module follows a structured lifecycle (e.g., Alpha → Beta → Final)
  • Full design/build lifecycle is approximately 12 weeks
  • A new wave launches about every 3 weeks
  • During a limited surge period, up to 3 waves may overlap at once
  • Client review windows are built into the lifecycle

If you like keeping lots of moving parts organized and unblocked, you’ll thrive here.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
Delivery Operations & Tracking
  • Maintain ClickUp as the system of record for statuses, due dates, assignments
  • Maintain Microsoft Project plans for module dependencies, schedules, key milestones, and ensure tasks are sequenced correctly across concurrent waves
  • Track and reconcile estimated vs. actual hours, flagging variances and trends to the Lead PM/Program Manager
  • Produce module-level burn-down charts and reporting artifacts to support delivery forecasting

Meetings & Communication Support
  • Provide meeting support for recurring ceremonies (agenda prep, attendance tracking, notes, action items, follow-ups)
  • Occasionally facilitate internal meetings when needed (e.g., standups/status check-ins)
  • Support client communications through updates, follow-ups, and documentation (under the direction of the Lead PM)

Reviews, QA, and Compliance Coordination
  • Coordinate client review cycles (Alpha/Beta/Validation): distribute review packages/links, track feedback, consolidate inputs, and ensure responses are routed and closed
  • Coordinate internal QA and Section 508 compliance gates; ensure required testing/sign-offs are recorded before final delivery
  • Support version control and file organization in SharePoint to maintain a clear source of truth

Reporting & Stakeholder Support
  • Create weekly internal and client-facing status reports (progress, risks/issues, upcoming milestones, needed decisions)
  • Track sign-offs across reviewer groups and ensure approvals are captured for each module as required

Escalation & Decision Support
  • Identify risks early and escalate appropriately; this role supports decision-making but does not own scope approvals or client commitments

Tools & Collaboration Environment
  • ClickUp (project tracking / system of record)
  • SharePoint (files and version control)
  • Teams + Slack (communication)
  • Review tool + spreadsheets (capturing/triaging feedback)

What You Bring
Required
  • Experience supporting project delivery in a fast-paced, multi-workstream environment
  • Familiarity with the Learning development lifecycle and iterative review cycles (Alpha/Beta/Validation or equivalent) for all kinds of learning deliverables
  • Strong coordination skills for tracking details, following up, and keeping work moving across multiple contributors
  • Comfort building and maintaining project reporting artifacts (status reports, burn-down, variance tracking)
  • Clear written communication and strong meeting support skills (notes, action items, follow-ups)

Preferred
  • Experience supporting an Agile management approach for instructional design work (LLAMA® familiarity is a plus)
  • Experience working on Federal projects

Nice to Have
  • Experience with high-volume content production.
  • A willingness to roll with the changes.

What Good Looks Like in This Role
  • ClickUp stays trustworthy: Tasks are current so the team can rely on ClickUp as the source of truth without chasing updates.
  • Review cycles run clean: Client reviews coordinated smoothly, with packages out on time using templates to ensure timely and professional communication.
  • Estimates vs. actuals are visible: Module-level burn/variance is updated consistently, trends are surfaced early, and the Lead PM/Program Manager get actionable insights.
  • Teams stay aligned: Meetings produce clear notes, decisions, and action items; contributors stay coordinated across parallel modules and phases.
  • Professional client support: Client interactions are crisp, accurate, and calm; questions get routed/answered quickly, with issues escalated appropriately and commitments are tracked through to closure.
