Job Description

We are seeking a candidate who is compelled by the ASU Charter and believes that innovation in higher education is possible when an institution places students at the center of its operations and strategy.

This position reports to the Director of Academic Enterprise Enrollment Solutions and works closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute against project requirements; identifies and acquires necessary resources and coordinates efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with the university's strategic objectives. This position will manage a mix of short-term and long-term projects and special initiatives on behalf of Academic Enterprise Enrollment leaders.

The ideal candidate will have strong project management and organizational skills, a track record of handling multiple initiatives, and the ability to work through challenges with persistence. They must be comfortable working both independently and in team settings, have strong diplomacy skills, and effectively balance and focus on objectives in an environment where projects compete for priority.

This is an in-person position based in Tempe, Arizona.

Essential Duties:

  • Plans, develops, implements, and manages a project team through complete task definitions, work requirement identification, and assignments.
  • Translates the needs and vision of the Vice President and Deputy Vice President into actionable plans for execution, ensuring alignment with AEE's strategic goals.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes; identifies critical resource expertise and targets appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Organizes cross-functional teams and manages multiple projects, including those requiring input from executive leadership.
  • Establishes and continually monitors/manages project expectations with team; assigns tasks and identifies issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness.
  • Prepares and maintains all project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones, deliverables, critical paths, and dependencies while adjusting expectations as needed. Respond to inquiries regarding project status and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to utilize agile and waterfall methodologies where appropriate and recommend which method is best for a given project. Also determines how best to blend methodologies to manage unique projects and meet goals.
  • Research and synthesize background materials to prepare leadership for key meetings with university executives, industry partners, and government representatives.
  • Identifies risks to project outcomes and develop strategies to mitigate or adapt to these challenges. Responds to all inquiries regarding project status; prepares and responds to all regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance.
  • Prepares post-project reports, budget allocations, and summaries to ensure timely dissemination of information to all interested parties.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of Project Management certifications such as PMP, PPM, CSM, CAPM, CSPO, or SAFe Agilist.
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with executive-level leadership.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects requiring participation and input from various stakeholders. Demonstrated use of CRM, SIS or project management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to present ideas clearly and confidently, including a high level of comfort with public speaking and engaging varied audiences.
  • Strong ability to research, synthesize information, and ask probing questions.
  • Education domain knowledge, especially in higher education enrollment processes.
  • Experience working with solutions in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance).

Working Environment:

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across university campuses. Evidence of effective verbal and written communications.
