Description of Work | The Office of Sponsored Programs is seeking to hire a Project Specialist professional at one of two levels:
Project Specialist II: Perform financial management activities for gifts, grants and contracts received by UNL. Advise and train staff on compliance issues. Process and close awards. Prepare and sign financial reports and serve as a Sponsored Programs office liaison to funding sources.
Project Specialist III: Perform financial management activities for gifts, grants and contracts received by UNL. Advise and train staff on compliance issues. Provide specialized guidance to faculty and staff in managing and closing out projects. Process and close awards. Prepare and sign financial reports and serve as a Sponsored Programs office liaison to funding sources. Perform specialized tasks for Post Award. Lead training sessions for departments. Provide oversight, training and/or mentoring for other OSP staff.

Minimum Required Qualifications |
Project Specialist II: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related field plus two (2) years of experience in an accounting, educational, or governmental office setting, including experience with administration of grants/contracts. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Experience with accountancy. Demonstrated ability to stay on top of project tasks appropriately throughout project timeline. Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations – Uniform Guidance, FAR clauses, and CFR. Knowledge of federal agency-specific rules and requirements.
Project Specialist III: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related field plus four (4) years of experience in an accounting, educational, or governmental setting, including experience with administration of grants/contracts. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. Experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Experience with accountancy. Work must demonstrate very few mistakes in transactions work, including account set up and manipulation. Demonstrated ability to stay on top of project tasks appropriately throughout project timeline. Must be able to complete work in SAP or other automated system quickly and efficiently. Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations – Uniform Guidance, FAR clauses and CFR. Knowledge of federal agency-specific rules and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications |
Project Specialist II: Bachelor’s degree. Experience in a university or state grants setting. Post-Award grant management experience. Experience with all Microsoft Office products, SAP, and UNL database warehouse. CRA and/or CGFM certification.
Project Specialist III: Master’s degree. Experience in a university or state grants setting. Post-Award grant management experience. Experience with all Microsoft Office products, SAP and UNL warehouse. CRA, CPA and/or CGFM certification.
