Job Summary
The Social Media/Marketing Coordinator supports the Philanthropy & Communications Team’s efforts to grow NHMU’s brand and drive museum admissions by promoting exhibitions, events, and science stories while maintaining brand standards across various marketing channels. As a valued member of our team, the Social Media/Marketing Coordinator will assume a broad set of responsibilities with emphases in social media management, video content creation, photography, copywriting, and campaign analysis. A confident self-starter with a familiarity of social media trends and experience in video production will excel in this position.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
• Social Media: Take a leading role managing the Museum’s presence on social media. Responsibilities will include frequent video content creation, photography, management of a boosting budget, and regular reporting on campaign performance.
• Visual Storytelling: Produce compelling visual content for use on and beyond social media, including the Museum’s website, emails, printed collateral, and other materials. Subject matter will be diverse, from documenting fossil excavations in southern Utah to filming public events at the Museum. Secondary responsibilities will include:
• Website Updates: Using a Drupal 10 CMS, build, review, and edit website content including that produced by other departments to ensure accuracy and adherence to copy and design standards.
• Campaign Reporting: Generate reports to analyze marketing efforts using Google Analytics, social media analytics, and other tools.
• Outreach: Conduct occasional outreach marketing by tabling at community events.
• Podcast: When time permits, continue advancing the Museum’s podcast goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communications, English, Liberal Arts, or a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Experience in desktop publishing, word processing, computer networks and web page design preferred. Experience in public relations work or the print news media also preferred.

• Experience in mirrorless or DSLR camera systems
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience providing marketing support to internal and external audiences
• Interest in science and natural history
