THE ROLE
As a Quality Analyst II on the Assessments team at Khan Academy, you’ll help ensure the quality and reliability of our new Interim Assessment products for learners, educators, and districts. This is a manual testing role; experience with test automation would be a bonus. Your focus will be to deeply understand our web-based Assessment product features and user flows, and craft and execute thorough test plans to ensure stability across common and edge-case scenarios. You’ll work closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and content creators on the Assessments team as we collaboratively develop and iterate new features, including AI-based features.

This is an 18 month fellowship — a full-time opportunity with full benefits designed for someone eager to make meaningful contributions to high-impact education products while continuing to grow professionally.

What you'll do:
  • Translate user stories and technical requirements into manual test plans, covering happy paths, edge cases, and regression scenarios.
  • Perform regression testing and release validation of critical workflows to ensure product quality remains high as new features are introduced.
  • Use Xray to organize and track test cases, execution, and results.
  • Track, document, and communicate defects using Jira, articulating severity and reproduction steps clearly and working with cross-functional partners to triage and prioritize fixes.
  • Contribute to shared documentation in Confluence, supporting visibility and alignment across the team.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of team QA practices and processes.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • 2+ years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Analyst role on a web product team.
  • Proven ability to design and maintain structured manual test plans aligned with product and business goals.
  • Passion for the details and a hunger for learning and exploring — skilled at identifying test gaps and edge cases early in the process.
  • Experience with test management and documentation tools like Xray, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with agile development practices, including sprint planning, standups, and backlog refinement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across remote, cross-functional teams
  • Proven cross-cultural competency skills demonstrating self-awareness, awareness of other, and the ability to adopt inclusive perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors to drive inclusion and belonging throughout the organization.

The target salary range for this position is $77,600 - $97,000 USD. The pay range for this position is a general guideline only. The salary offered will depend on internal pay equity and the candidate’s relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and job market data. Additional incentives are provided as part of the complete total rewards package, in addition to comprehensive medical and other benefits.
