Recruitment Specialist Full Description

Job Summary
The Recruitment Specialist counsels and assists prospective students in the college search and selection process with the goal to recruit well-prepared students into the John Martinson Honors College (JMHC). Primary responsibilities include assisting the Director and Assistant Director with admissions and recruitment efforts across the JMHC including but not limited to meeting with prospective students and families, speaking to audiences as large as 1000 attendees, traveling to off-site recruitment events-some during evenings and weekends,  reviewing applications, maintaining social media presence for the unit, and event planning and management with the potential for added responsibility with program coordination and other special projects. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding communicator with the ability to engage and build relationships with prospective students and families, high school counselors, and campus partners. Additionally, this position requires the ability to think critically and independently using problem-solving and judgment skills to make educated, professional decisions.

What We’re Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Two (2) years of work experience in a related field
  • Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to relate well to diverse constituencies. 
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills and proficiency in computer technology. 
  • Represent the University with tact and diplomacy at all times.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels. 
  • Ability to work independently and make timely decisions
  • Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds frequently and 40 pounds occasionally. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend hours.  

Nice to Have:
  • Experience as an ambassador, tour guide, or other student services roles
  • Student Affairs practitioner (provides services and support for students: academic advising, academic programs, teaching, career development, etc.). 
  • University admissions, student services, or event planning/management experience. 
  • Experience with University Brand Guidelines
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud
