Future Opportunities: Regional Sales Manager

Remote

We are building the sales team that will define the next phase of growth at Joyful Reading Company. Following a series of acquisitions and expansion of our product suite, we're investing heavily in growing our go-to-market team, creating meaningful opportunities to take ownership, build, and grow with the business.

If you are a successful seller who loves helping other people win, enjoys coaching as much as closing, and wants to have a direct impact on the growth of both revenue and people, we want to meet you early in the process.

How it works:
  • Submit your application if this feels like a good fit.
  • We expect to move quickly with candidates who stand out.

The ideal candidate will have 2 or more of the following:

To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • Proven Sales Success: A track record of hitting and exceeding your own individual sales quotas.
  • Leadership Capability: 2+ years of experience accountable for a sales team’s quota OR a strong history of informally mentoring, onboarding, and coaching peers.
  • Context Shifting & Multitasking: The ability to seamlessly shift focus between closing your own deals and coaching others to close theirs without letting details slip.
  • A Collaborative Mindset: A history of being highly supportive, collegiate, and a positive culture-carrier within a sales team.

We’d love to see (but don’t require) 2 or more of the following:
  • Experience in sales specifically within EdTech, LibraryTech, or SaaS sales.
  • Experience as a librarian, teacher, or working closely with K-12 district-level leadership.
  • Experience using Joyful Reading Products
  • Experience working for a growing company with 25–100 employees.

Other qualities we love to see:
  • The "Coach" Mindset: You find as much joy in helping your team smash their quotas as you do hitting your own.
  • Proactive Initiative: Rather than waiting for opportunities or processes to be built, you create them.
  • Accountability: You thrive owning both an individual and a team revenue number.
  • Healthy Competition: You compete to elevate yourself, but you lead to elevate your entire team.

The role:

You will join a dynamic, fun, and growth-oriented sales team as a player / coach responsible for both revenue production and frontline sales leadership.

You will manage and develop a small team of Account Executives while maintaining your own territory and quota. Your primary responsibility will be helping your team create, advance, and close opportunities through consistent coaching, deal reviews, call reviews, and skill development.

You will guide your team through complex K-12 sales cycles, helping them improve discovery conversations, stakeholder management, evaluation plans, pipeline management, forecast accuracy, and closing execution. You will be responsible for creating rigor around opportunity inspection and ensuring sales leadership has a reliable view of expected revenue outcomes.

You will also play a key role in onboarding new Account Executives, helping them ramp quickly and build the habits necessary for long-term success.

On a typical day you will be ...

  • Selling (45%): Actively managing your own pipeline, leading discovery calls, running product demos, collaborating with a partner BDR, and closing deals within your personal territory.
  • Coaching & Deal Advancement (40%): Reviewing call recordings, running deal-strategy sessions, and coaching a small team of AEs on how to effectively progress complex deals to close. You will also facilitate the hands-on onboarding and tactical ramping of new AE hires.
  • Operations & Leadership (10%): Maintaining forecast accuracy, tracking individual and team activity in HubSpot, inspecting pipeline health, and collaborating with executive leadership.
  • Engaging in internal meetings with your team, sales leadership, and occasional all-company meetings (5%).

Compensation:

We offer a competitive base salary, uncapped commission (on both individual and team performance), and comprehensive benefits. Leveling is determined based on leadership experience and overall alignment with the role.

  • Base Salary: $100,000 – $140,000
  • On-Target Commission: $50,000 – $75,000+
  • On-Target Earnings: $150,000 – $215,000+

Other benefits

  • At least 15 vacation days annually in addition to all national holidays and "pager duty" during the week before New Year's Day.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance available.
  • $1,500 annual professional development stipend.
  • 401(k) matching.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We believe diversity breeds innovation. We're building a product that helps librarians, educators, and families everywhere, and to do that well, we need a workforce representative of the population we serve. We are actively looking to add members to our team who will bring diverse backgrounds, new perspectives, and a willingness to challenge us to improve the work we do every day.
