 Position Summary Information 
Job Description Summary  | The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (AHSS) is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to support an academic research project on community-based collaborative governance.
This position involves direct involvement in qualitative research and manuscript development. The Research Assistant will play a key role incollecting, analyzing, and synthesizing data that will be shared with bothan academic and practitioner audiences. This position begins in August 2025 and ends mid-December, 2025. The hours are five (5) hours per week. The work schedule is semi-flexible during normal business hours. Position may work remotely in accordance with the EOU Remote Work Guidelines.
Responsibilities  | Draft and revise sections of academic manuscripts and research reports. Conduct and transcribe semi-structured interviews with stakeholders involved in community-based governance efforts. Code and analyze qualitative interview data using NVivo. Assist in maintaining accurate research records and documentation. Collaborate with faculty and other team members to ensure the timely completion of research milestones.
Minimum Qualifications  | Strong academic writing and editing skills, particularly in social sciences or policy-related disciplines. Proficiency in qualitative research methods, especially coding and thematic analysis. Experience with or willingness to learn interview techniques and ethical research practices. Familiarity with qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo) is preferred. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research environment. Background or strong interest in public policy, governance, community engagement, or related fields.
Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
