Job Description
The Knowledge Enterprise Technology Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of the Enterprise System for Research Administration (ERA), as well as other technology solutions, such as the Forecasting Tool and KE Data Warehouse. This role serves as a critical bridge between ASU's Research Operations teams, the user community, and the Knowledge Enterprise Research Technology Development Team. The KE Technology Operations Manager also collaborates closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Huron and other service providers to ensure optimal system performance, governance, and user experience.
Essential Duties
System Oversight & Optimization
- Manage operations and enhancements for ERA, The Knowledge Enterprise (KE) Data Warehouse, the Forecasting Tool, and other Knowledge Enterprise technical solutions., ensuring reliability, scalability, and alignment with ASU's research administration and technology needs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and Huron to identify, prioritize, and implement system improvements.
Governance & Compliance
- Lead and oversee governance routines for ERA, the KE Data Warehouse, the Forecasting Tool, and other Knowledge Enterprise technical solutions.
- Ensure governance processes are transparent, inclusive, and aligned with institutional priorities.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Review, inform, and support agreements for Huron and other vendor services.
- Manage ongoing vendor relationships to ensure alignment with operational and institutional needs.
- Serve as a liaison during contract-related discussions and negotiations.
Leadership & Business Coordination
- Partner with leadership and business units to inform product needs, requirements, and development priorities.
- Develop and maintain the product roadmap to guide short- and long-term system enhancements.
- Track and report on budget expenditures and forecasts to ensure responsible financial stewardship.
Issue Resolution & Support
- Coordinate the timely resolution of operational issues across functional and technical teams.
- Act as a central point of contact for escalating and tracking system challenges through to resolution.
Agile/SCRUM Management
- Manage the Agile/SCRUM development process for Operations and Projects, ensuring effective backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and delivery.
- Facilitate collaboration between developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to achieve project goals.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison with key ASU stakeholders, including Research Operations, system users, and KE leadership.
- Provide clear, timely communication on system performance, priorities, and upcoming changes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, fostering alignment between technical solutions and institutional goals.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise-level systems and processes, preferably in research administration or higher education.
- Strong understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodologies with proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex issues clearly to senior leadership and diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with governance frameworks, process improvement, and roadmap development.
- Ability to manage budgets, track expenditures, and provide accurate forecasts.
- Experience reviewing and managing vendor agreements or contracts preferred.
- Solid understanding of the distinctions between project management and operations management, and how the two functions complement one another.
- Experience with project management information systems, including tools for planning, tracking, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience working with enterprise-level information systems.

- Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position.
- Constantly detects and operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.
