Advertising/Posting Title | Researcher/Analyst
Posting Summary | Provide technical expertise, lead and implement advanced research projects, including supervising and training team members. Perform complex data analysis and manage data, prepare detailed budgets for research projects and grant proposals. Train faculty, staff, postdocs, and students how to conduct the methodologies used in the laboratory in kidney physiology (sinistrin GFR, metabolic cage studies, tail vein injection, uninephrectomy, gavage of adult and juvenile mice, left ventricular perfusion, minipump placement, mouse blood pressure measurements, subcutaneous and intraperitoneal injections, anesthesia, unilateral ureteral ligation, subcapsular kidney injections, tissue preparation for histology of the kidney and male reproductive tract, blood draw for istat measurements, among other kidney and epithelial physiology procedures) and how to work safely within the BSL2+ level procedures as needed. Direct the laboratory safety program including keeping labs in compliance for regulatory inspections. Develop novel methodologies as needed for the lab, ensure the well-functioning of all laboratory spaces and equipment including setting up new general laboratory spaces for in vitro and in vivo work at Biosafety Level (BSL)-2. Liaise with multiple domestic and international research partners (academic, clinical, and corporate). Conduct all laboratory associated ordering, and track laboratory finance expenditures. Handle and process blood and urine samples (animal and human), ship, track, manage, and receive category A and B shipments in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) protocols interacting with international customs officials as needed. Lead projects to develop novel diagnostics within nephrology.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in biology (or a related science) and 6-8 years of experience. The candidate must have the required expertise and documented training for working safely in BSL-2 and other high biocontainment laboratories including at least 5 years of prior experience working with BSL-2 and BSL2+ and >7 years of experience working with kidney physiology at BSL2. Must be International Air Transport Association (IATA) trained.
Desirable Qualifications | Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and biostatistics for animal studies
Anticipated Pay Range | 65,000 - 70,000
