| Job Summary | The University of Utah Campus Store is seeking a Retail Sales Floor Lead for a full-time, hourly leadership role responsible for driving the sales floor experience in the Utah Red Zone at the University of Utah Campus Store. This role serves as a visible leader within the Red Zone area of the store, maintaining an active presence on the sales floor while supporting associates, engaging customers, and reinforcing selling behaviors. This position is highly customer-facing and is expected to spend the majority of scheduled time on the sales floor, leading by example and ensuring an energetic, service-focused retail environment that reflects the pride and spirit of the University of Utah. Working under the direction of store management, the Retail Sales Floor Lead supports daily retail operations, helps maintain merchandising standards, and assists with product flow and event preparation during peak traffic periods and football season. This is a working retail lead position that actively supports the sales floor alongside team members. Regular Saturday availability is required. When the reporting manager is scheduled to work on a Saturday (excluding home football games), the Retail Sales Floor Lead will typically be scheduled off that Saturday. | Responsibilities | • Serve as a visible leader on the sales floor, actively engaging with customers and supporting team members throughout the shift. • Model and reinforce outstanding customer service and selling behaviors to create a positive guest experience. • Coach associates on customer engagement, product knowledge, and sales floor expectations. • Support daily retail operations by helping maintain an organized, energetic, and customer-focused sales floor. • Partner with supervisors and management to reinforce performance expectations and communicate operational or customer service concerns. • Execute visual merchandising standards, including floor moves, product presentation, signage updates, and promotional displays. • Ensure merchandise is replenished, organized, and accessible to customers throughout the day. • Assist customers with product selection, locating merchandise, and purchasing decisions. • Support cashier operations and assist during high-traffic periods as needed. • Assist with merchandise transfers, restocking, and product staging to support sales floor readiness. • Partner with receiving and warehouse teams to ensure timely product flow to the sales floor. • Support concessions and stadium operations during football season, including game-day preparation, restocking, and cashier check-in support under management direction. • Assist with stadium store setup during home game weeks and recovery during away-game weeks as assigned. |
| Minimum Qualifications | Three years of retail sales experience with one year of experience supervising employees and buying merchandise; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Associate’s degree in Business, or a related field, or two years of related college work along with the above experience requirements or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education) is preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care. |
| Preferences | • Minimum of three (3) years of retail experience. • Experience executing visual merchandising standards in a retail environment. • Familiarity with inventory processes such as transfers, staging, and stock organization. • Demonstrated ability to provide constructive, in-the-moment feedback. • Strong organizational and time-management skills. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, event-driven retail environment. • Flexibility to work regular Saturdays and extended hours during football season as required. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. |
