Description
Macmillan is seeking a driven and motivated Manager in the Special Markets department to manage and expand new business within the Premium/Corporate sales channel. This role reports to the Associate Director of Sales and focuses on achieving and exceeding annual sales goals for Macmillan’s wholly-owned and client publisher trade titles. Key responsibilities include managing accounts within the Premium/Corporate territory, creating seasonal sales presentations, and identifying new business opportunities to drive growth. We are looking for a proactive, solution-oriented team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively both internally and externally. What You'll Do:
  • Maximize Macmillan sales performance across the Premium and Corporate channels.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director to set achievable growth targets and maintain a strategic focus on annual sales goals.
  • Manage the monthly/seasonal sales of all Macmillan wholly-owned and Distribution Client titles to the Premium/Corporate account base.
  • Develop strong existing and initiate new relationships with buyers, regularly monitoring trends and targeting new business opportunities.
  • Create targeted pitches and seasonal presentations, meeting regularly with accounts to present appropriate trade adult and children’s titles.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with all accounts in the Premium/Corporate territory, developing partnerships and opening new accounts.
  • Responsible for the monthly Premium/Corporate sales report and channel updates.
  • Review sales performance regularly with the supervisor, prioritizing annual targets.
  • Handle order processing and trafficking, coordinating closely with the Customer Service team.
  • Provide weekly title estimates for future trade and distribution titles.
  • Communicate and participate in regular launch, sales, and marketing meetings.
  • Provide regular account feedback to publishers, marketing/sales, and the Supply Chain department.

What You'll Bring:
  • Proven ability to grow key accounts, focus on achieving sales goals, and a proactive approach to identifying new business and development opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, skilled as a presenter, and the ability to form strong customer relationships.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and project manage, handling urgent tasks and longer-term plans concurrently. 
  • Adept in problem-solving and project management. 
  • Excellent time management skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-starter attitude, strongly results-driven, comfortable collaborating as part of a team, and working independently.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint, with knowledge of Google Suite.
  • 2-4 years Special Market sales experience, Premium / Corporate preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree 

The salary range for this role is $70,000-$76,000.

This position is classified as remote but is tied to our New York, NY office located at 120 Broadway. Employment is subject to New York State tax withholding under applicable regulations.
