Responsibilities

The individual in this position has lead responsibility for coordinating admissions, advising, outreach, recruitment, retention, and graduation for students in the Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program and certificates within the School of Information. The position supports academic program operations, student success initiatives, enrollment management, and program growth while serving as a representative and ambassador for the School.

Academic Program Leadership and Student Success
Serves as primary Student Services Advisor for students in the MSIT program and certificates from initial point of inquiry to graduation and fosters a welcoming and supportive environment. Monitors student success, retention, registration, and graduation clearances and ensures compliance with University systems. Collaborates with academic leadership to support student success initiatives, academic interventions, and scholarship administration. Provides cross-functional support during peak operational periods and performs other duties as assigned.

Strategic Recruitment, Outreach, and Program Promotion
Coordinates communications and marketing initiatives that support recruitment, retention, and student engagement goals. Develops and maintains partnerships with university departments, alumni, employers, professional organizations, and community stakeholders to support program growth and student opportunities.
Oversees relevant websites, publications, social media, and recruitment materials to ensure accuracy and alignment with School of Information objectives.

Coordination and Operational Oversight
Provides coordination and oversight for academic program activities and student service operations. Assists with training, process documentation, workflow improvements, and implementation of best practices to ensure effective delivery of services and achievement of departmental goals. Provides guidance and coordination of activities within the Student Services team and recommends enhancements to operational processes and procedures.

Program Planning, Assessment, and Reporting
Conducts research and analyzes admissions, enrollment, retention, graduation, and employment outcome data to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. Compiles and interprets statistical reports and provides recommendations to leadership regarding enrollment management, student success, and improvements to MSIT program and certificate performance. Supports strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Policy Interpretation and Departmental Resource
Interprets and applies University, Graduate School, and departmental policies and procedures related to admissions, enrollment, advising, academic progression, graduation requirements, and student records. Ensures compliance with institutional requirements and recommends improvements to policies, procedures, and operational processes that enhance efficiency and service delivery. Serves as a resource to faculty, staff, administrators, and students on academic policies, procedures, and program requirements.

Service and Leadership Contributions
Represents the School of Information on departmental, college, university, and professional committees, workgroups, and special projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in academic advising, student services, admissions, enrollment management, higher education administration, or a related field; or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to six years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Information Technology, Computer Science, Instructional Design, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in academic advising, student services, graduate program administration, or a related higher education setting.
  • Experience with graduate admissions, recruitment, enrollment management, and student retention initiatives.
  • Knowledge of university policies, procedures, student information systems, and related administrative processes.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting student or program data.
  • Experience developing communications, outreach materials, recruitment materials, or other student-facing content.
  • Knowledge of information technology, computing, or related academic disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects, coordinating initiatives, and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience providing customer service, advising, program coordination, or student support.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and communicate policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, student information systems, databases, and data management tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and diverse populations.
