Vector Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant & Tax Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. This key role combines advanced accounting functions with critical tax responsibilities, contributing to the accuracy and integrity of financial data, ensuring compliance with GAAP and tax regulations, and supporting the company’s overall financial strategy. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in general accounting and indirect tax compliance, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage complex financial and tax-related tasks.  

What You'll Do: 
  • Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of general ledger account reconciliations, including deferred revenue, leases, and accruals. 
  • Generate and analyze cash flow forecasts to guide strategic business decisions. 
  • Produce accurate financial statements and reports, supporting leadership with insightful analysis. 
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations. 
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit, including communication with external auditors and preparation of required documentation. 
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve accounting processes, policies, and internal controls. 
  • Stay current with GAAP and relevant accounting regulations to guide financial practices and reporting. 
  • Prepare and file multi-state U.S. Sales & Use tax returns, Canadian PST, HST, GST returns, property tax filings, and business licenses. 
  • Maintain state tax registrations and customer tax exemption certificates. 
  • Evaluate product taxability and assign proper tax codes in the system. 
  • Research and resolve sales tax issues and respond to tax notices in collaboration with taxing authorities. 
  • Support indirect tax audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation and correspondence. 
  • Record estimated tax payments and reconcile tax-related accounts during month-end close. 
  • Work with external tax preparers for income tax filings and liaise with cross-functional departments including sales and operations. 
  • Enhance and maintain internal tax systems and tools (e.g., Avalara). 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA certification preferred. 
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years focused on indirect tax compliance and reporting. 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and indirect tax regulations in the U.S. and Canada. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, pivot tables). 
  • Experience with accounting and tax software systems (NetSuite and Avalara experience is a plus). 
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interdepartmental coordination and external correspondence. 
  • Experience working in a SaaS or multi-entity environment preferred.  
  • Familiarity with tax implications of digital products and services. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
