Guild is hiring a Senior Engineer to join our AI Native Experiences team. This is a high-impact role for an experienced engineer that is excited to build AI-native features that redefine how users interact with Guild’s platform. You’ll develop intelligent, dynamic, and responsive interfaces that use machine learning to personalize products and systems in real time; helping learners navigate education and career opportunities with clarity and support.
As part of a cross-functional team, you’ll partner closely with product, design, and MLOps to bring AI capabilities into our frontend and full-stack architecture. You’ll build production-grade systems that are scalable, maintainable, and reusable; helping establish patterns and tools that enable other teams across Guild to build with AI. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical skills with deep empathy for users and fellow engineers, and who is passionate about shaping the future of AI-powered experiences in a mission-driven environment.
Please note that this role is expected to be onsite in our Denver office 2 days a week + as needed for business specific needs.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship user-facing experiences powered by capabilities like summarization, personalization, semantic search, and classification. Ensure these features deliver intuitive, real-time, and context-aware responses that enhance user decision-making and engagement.
- Create and maintain reusable components and integration patterns for embedding AI into frontends across Guild’s platform. Ensure these solutions are easy to adopt by other product teams, supporting scalability across multiple products and client implementations.
- Partner with MLOps to define reliable model interface standards and deploy internal/external APIs with performance and cost in mind. Work closely with product, UX, and external partners to align AI-driven solutions with client needs, user expectations, and business priorities.
- Integrate and monitor third-party AI services (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic), ensuring robust error handling, response accuracy, and system observability. Proactively address performance issues or model drifts to ensure features meet enterprise-grade reliability standards.
- Collaborate with design to create AI interactions that are simple, transparent, and responsive to user context. Champion responsible AI practices that prioritize user trust, privacy, and inclusivity.
- Share expertise in AI integration, prompt engineering, and model orchestration to support peer growth and onboarding of rotating team members. Contribute to a culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Stay ahead of AI and frontend trends, identifying practical innovations in areas like semantic search and conversational interfaces. Propose and prototype ideas that push the boundaries of AI-native product experiences while balancing competing priorities across clients and teams.
- Advocate for the transformative potential of AI in education and workforce advancement.
- Take initiatives from prototyping through deployment and iteration of AI-powered features using expertise, on-going research and pro-active problem solving.
Qualifications
- 8+ years in software development, with strength in frontend or full-stack work. Proficient in modern web technologies (e.g. React, TypeScript) and backend services (REST/GraphQL).
- Hands-on expertise integrating ML models or AI services into production applications and delivering tangible business or user value. Familiar with NLP, recommender systems, and generative AI.
- Skilled in using model APIs and applying concepts like embeddings, prompt engineering, fallback strategies, and cost optimization.
- Proven ability to design systems, libraries, or components for reuse across teams and products.
- Experience creating adaptive, context-aware interfaces that surface AI outputs naturally and effectively enhance user journeys.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with product, design, and other stakeholder teams to ship production-ready AI features. Adept at articulating complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
