Position Summary
Bridge is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its Voyager Team as the guardian of the mission-critical Ruby on Rails monolith that powers its learning and career-development platform. While Bridge's strategic future is being built in Kotlin and Spring Boot, the Voyager Team owns the core Ruby ecosystem, serving as the expert who understands its complexity, fixes critical issues, and ensures new features integrate seamlessly.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the guardian of Bridge's core Ruby on Rails monolith, fixing critical issues and understanding its full complexity
- Develop the Complex Ruby on Rails web application, roughly 60% of the role, and Java/Kotlin SpringBoot REST APIs, roughly 40%
- Ensure new features written in Kotlin or Ruby integrate seamlessly into the existing ecosystem
- Work with PostgreSQL databases and cloud services including AWS Aurora RDS, Apache Pulsar, and AWS OpenSearch
- Support ETL data pipelines built with Debezium and graph databases on AWS Neptune
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Spinnaker, and Terraform, with monitoring via DataDog
- Occasionally work in the frontend using React and TypeScript
Minimum Qualifications
A 'no fear' attitude built from navigating complex production crises without documentation or guidance, high abstract and conceptual thinking for large undocumented monoliths, and a broad, polyglot background across multiple technology stacks.
Other Requirements

Compensation
Salary package of 1.7-2.1M HUF gross/month depending on seniority, plus a performance-based bonus and benefits including a comprehensive Medicover healthcare package and a SZÉP card.
