Job Summary
The Senior Clinical Informatics Data Scientist supports the development of UTA’s healthcare informatics research and education programs in collaboration with Cook Children’s Health Care System. The position focuses on turning clinical and real-world data into meaningful research, education, and evidence-based insights. The individual will work closely with faculty, clinicians, and data teams to design studies, analyze data, and support publication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key contributor in building and supporting a healthcare informatics education and research program in collaboration with Cook Children’s Health Care System.
  • Develop and support scalable infrastructure, tools, and workflows for clinical research, real-world evidence, and data-driven education initiatives.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and technical teams to translate clinical and research questions into structured study designs and analytical plans.
  • Work closely with the Senior Healthcare Data Architect to develop cohorts, data specifications, and reproducible research workflows.
  • Conduct analyses using clinical and real-world healthcare data to generate insights, reports, and publication-ready outputs.
  • Lead or contribute to manuscripts, abstracts, reports, and presentations for academic, clinical, and operational audiences. Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to faculty, students, and collaborators on clinical data science and research methods.
  • Apply clinical informatics and epidemiologic methods to ensure research quality, validity, and reproducibility.
  • Support cohort development, phenotype definition, and data validation across multiple healthcare data sources.
  • Interpret and communicate findings to academic, clinical, and operational stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, security, and regulatory requirements while working with sensitive clinical data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree or clinical doctorate with research training, such as PhD, DrPH, MD, DO, PharmD, DNP, or equivalent, or master’s-level training with substantial applied healthcare data research experience
  • Three (3) years of experience conducting healthcare data research
  • Experience with statistical analysis and study design
  • Proficiency in at least one analytic tool (e.g., SQL, R, Python, SAS, or similar)
  • Experience working with clinical or real-world healthcare data
  • An equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar roles may also be accepted.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral or clinical doctorate (PhD, MD, DrPH, etc.) or equivalent experience
  • Epic systems, Cosmos, or similar healthcare data platforms
  • Experience in clinical informatics, epidemiology, or real-world evidence research
  • Experience with scientific writing and publication
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of clinical data, study design, and statistical methods
  • Ability to translate clinical questions into analytical approaches
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and disciplines

  • May require training in research compliance, data security, and privacy
  • May involve work in secure data environments
