Senior Computational Specialist Full Description

New York University is hiring a Senior Computational Specialist to provide high-level support to scholars using NYU's research-computing infrastructure and high-performance computing (HPC) resources, working directly with researchers to help solve computational problems and design algorithms.

Position summary:

Consult with researchers to solve computational problems, design algorithms, and develop and build applications
Advise researchers on configurations, practices, and policies that improve application performance
Develop training material, conduct training sessions, and provide documentation on HPC technologies and AI tools
Help define and build new research services for the next generation of NYU's infrastructure
Work with NYU IT teams on testing, benchmarking, support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HPC computing resources

Qualifications: Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field with a strong scientific-computing emphasis; 5+ years of experience with HPC programming, job scheduling, compilers, and performance libraries; and proficiency in languages such as C++, Fortran, Python, Java, or Matlab. A doctoral degree and 7+ years of experience are preferred.

Compensation: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range is $120,000-$140,000.
