The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Design Consultant to lead the design, development, and delivery of training for enterprise software implementations, including Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions and OT-enabled systems. This role supports large-scale transformation programs by ensuring end users are prepared to adopt new systems, processes, and ways of working. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in adult learning and instructional design, combined with hands-on experience supporting technology implementations. This role requires close collaboration with technical teams, functional SMEs, and organizational change practitioners to drive readiness and adoption, and willingness to travel up to 25% based on client and/or project need.
The Team
Black & Veatch’s Infrastructure Advisory Business provides a portfolio of solutions focused on the asset lifecycle, including Asset Management & Operations & Maintenance, Infrastructure Technology, Cybersecurity Solutions, Planning and Transactions. In this role you will be part of the Consultant Team supporting the solutions including Organization Change Management (OCM), Asset Management Systems, Strategic Asset Management, and Operational Technology. The Consultant Team includes a diverse team of professionals who work on a wide range of projects and include specialists in technology, strategy, asset management, and change management.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Design & Training Development
- Lead end-to-end instructional design using ADDIE or comparable methodologies, from needs analysis through implementation and evaluation
- Translate complex, role-based business and system processes into clear, task-oriented learning objectives and curricula
- Design and develop a variety of learning solutions, including: Instructor-led training (ILT), Virtual instructor-led training (VILT), Self-paced eLearning, Job aids, quick reference guides, and performance support tools
- Develop assessments, knowledge checks, and proficiency measures to support system readiness and adoption
Software Implementation & Program Support
- Design training aligned to software implementation lifecycles, including configuration, testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), go-live, and post–go-live stabilization
- Support Train-the-Trainer approaches to enable scalable, client-led training delivery
- Ensure training reflects real-world operational scenarios and job workflows
Facilitation & Delivery
- Facilitate live ILT and VILT sessions for diverse adult learner audiences
- Support go-live training delivery, including hyper-care and reinforcement activities
Training & Adoption Measurement
- Develop and oversee training approaches that prepare employees for change.
- Track and report on adoption, engagement, and readiness metrics.
Collaboration & Consulting
- Collaborate closely with organizational change management (OCM), PMO, and technical teams to align training with change and adoption strategies
- Communicate training approach, risks, and readiness clearly to clients and project leadership
- Contribute to continuous improvement of training standards, templates, and delivery practices
Organizational Change Management
- May support change management activities including: stakeholder engagement and impact analysis, change management plan development, communication planning and organizational readiness assessments.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of experience designing and delivering training for enterprise software implementations or large-scale transformation programs
- Demonstrated expertise in adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
- Strong facilitation skills for instructor-led and virtual training environments
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous consulting and implementation settings
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience
- 7+ years experience in a business/consulting environment

Certifications
Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred.
