I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
The Senior Data Analyst, Advancement Analytics and Philanthropic Intelligence serves as a strategic partner within University Advancement, leveraging data, analytics, and reporting to support fundraising performance, donor engagement, prospect identification, and campaign planning. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining reporting solutions, conducting advanced analytics, ensuring data integrity, and delivering actionable insights that support data-informed fundraising strategies. The position bridges traditional advancement reporting with modern analytics and predictive modeling, helping leadership and frontline fundraisers make informed decisions that advance philanthropy and engagement objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Advancement Reporting & Business Intelligence:
  • Design, develop, and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and scorecards for Advancement leadership and fundraising teams.
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate business needs into meaningful data solutions.
  • Create standardized reporting processes and documentation to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Develop or enhance executive-level dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, and related business intelligence tools.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and nontechnical audiences.

Data Analytics & Fundraising Strategy:
  • Analyze donor, alumni, campaign, and engagement data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Conduct statistical analyses, predictive modeling, segmentation, and forecasting to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop donor engagement, retention, and portfolio performance analyses.
  • Support campaign planning through data-driven insights and performance measurement.

Data Quality & Governance:
  • Monitor and improve data integrity across advancement systems and reporting environments.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance processes, validation procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with database administration and technical teams to enhance data accessibility and reliability.

Strategic Collaboration:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on advancement analytics, reporting, and business intelligence.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into practical recommendations that improve fundraising effectiveness.
  • Lead projects that improve reporting processes, workflow automation, and organizational data capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field is desired.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in analytics, reporting, business intelligence, fundraising analytics, or higher education advancement is desired.
  • Demonstrated experience working with large relational databases and data warehouses.
  • Experience supporting executive decision-making through reporting and analysis.
  • Experience developing and maintaining dashboards and automated reporting solutions.
  • Experience partnering with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Hiring Range $70,068.63 - $111,965.33
