Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for providing strategic execution and management of comprehensive annual giving programs and initiatives for the University of Hartford in an effort to increase the annual giving program in terms of total dollars, percentage participation, consistency of giving and average gift size for the University. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students.
Hiring Range Budgeted salary is $99,757 to $125,000, based upon experience
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Provides strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning for increasing the annual giving program while supporting the greater alumni engagement, development and campaign goals.
  • Develops and implements a strategic, multifaceted and coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone, volunteer engagement and social media focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support for all forms of giving. In collaboration with the appropriate constituents, determines annual giving goals and builds strategic and tactical plans for achieving these goals.
  • Develops, implements and strives to continually enhance the annual Day of Giving efforts for the University. Collaborates with vendors to coordinate the logistics of a high volume, short term fundraising initiatives. Works with the frontline fundraisers to assist and organize the identification, cultivation and solicitation of larger contributions to serve as challenge funds and individual challengers.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with Athletics, Student Groups, Alumni Engagement, and Deans to build an organized and effective solicitation schedule and strategy. Works closely with Advancement Communications to formulate and execute a communications program supporting annual giving. Partners with alumni engagement colleagues on reunion activities and strategies around class-year fundraising.
  • Manages annual giving staff members, including student workers and interns; helps to communicate clear goals, priorities and strategies for the annual giving program.
  • Attends University events and functions, including but not limited to, Hawktober, Commencement weekend, Family Giving and Founders Society events, representing Institutional Advancement as necessary and/or appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
