Position Overview

Impact Florida is seeking an experienced, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as its first Senior Director of Strategic Learning. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new role at the intersection of strategy, data, and organizational learning. The Senior Director will lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive organization-wide learning, measurement, and evaluation system—ensuring Impact Florida continuously assesses, demonstrates, and strengthens its impact across Florida’s education landscape.

The Senior Director of Strategic Learning will be responsible for the development of a learning culture at Impact Florida by embedding practices that enhance strategic thinking, reflection, and continuous improvement across the organization. Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer, and working closely with program teams and leadership, this role will ensure that data and insights meaningfully inform organizational strategy and decision-making.

This leader will be instrumental in:
  • Working with leadership, defining the strategic vision for learning, measurement, and evaluation at Impact Florida.
  • Building internal systems and structures that foster cross-team learning and strategic alignment.
  • Working with staff to plan for how to best collect, use and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborating with the Senior Director of Communications to translate insights into clear, compelling narratives for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive, organization-wide learning, measurement, and evaluation strategy aligned with Impact Florida’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Work closely with leadership to ensure data and insights inform strategic planning and progress against strategic goals.
  • Design and implement systems for data collection, analysis, synthesis, and use across all programs.
  • Develop systems for capturing and organizing institutional knowledge to ensure program continuity, learning, and long-term strategy refinement.
  • Foster a culture of learning by developing tools and routines that enable reflection, adaptation, and innovation.
  • Partner with program teams to embed measurement and evaluation into program design and implementation, including supporting the hiring and managing of third-party evaluators.
  • Identify and promote best practices across teams, enabling shared learning and continual improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Communications to share key learnings with funders, partners, and the broader field.
  • Building staff capacity by developing and delivering training and coaching for staff on using data in reflective practice and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in public policy, education, social science, public health, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience leading learning, measurement, evaluation, or research work required—ideally within nonprofits, consulting, philanthropy, or K-12 education, especially those focused on systems change.
  • Self-starter and able to work independently; demonstrated success navigating a high degree of ambiguity and maintaining flexibility.
  • Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies and the design of learning and evaluation systems that inform strategy and performance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Experience managing consultants or research partners and leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success fostering a culture of data-informed decision-making and continuous learning.
  • Strong project management and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working in or with K–12 education systems preferred; familiarity with Florida’s education landscape a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with a virtual team.

Location and Travel

  • Impact Florida operates as a fully virtual/remote organization. While candidates from anywhere in the United States will be considered, priority will be given to applicants located in or with strong professional connections to Florida.
  • Expect travel within Florida of approximately 15–20% across the year, with occasional high-travel periods.
Compensation and Benefits
Impact Florida offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000. New hires are typically hired at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, 100% of the employee premium for the base medical plan. Other benefits include dental and vision plans, life insurance, unlimited vacation time and a 401(k) plan with an employer match up to 5 percent of salary.
