Description  | The Senior Executive Secretary performs a full range of duties at a senior secretarial level for the Department Chair and faculty members in the Department of Biology. At the direction of the Chair, the Senior Executive Secretary will be responsible for the day-to-day office operations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Handles incoming and outgoing calls and responds to inquiries about the department. Distributes incoming mail, logs deliveries and informs faculty. Assists students with the registration process as needed and maintains waitlists for course registration. Collects and submits textbook orders for all classes in collaboration with the faculty. Assists faculty with preparing course outlines and copying course material. Assists with scheduling, room requests, and event coordination. Processes workflows, teaching schedules and faculty appointment and promotion paperwork. Assists with the supervision of student aides. Assists with department’s accreditation reporting and filing requirements. Prepares email blasts relating to student employment opportunities, department’s promotion of classes, events, and activities. Assists with updating the department’s brochures and other curriculum and promotional materials, including but not limited to the department’s website. Submits work orders and key requests to Plant department as needed. Maintains Excel and Google Sheet data files. May perform other assigned duties not specifically identified above but which require the same degree of skills, and which are normally included within the above title. 
Hours: Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Qualifications  | Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Prior office experience and must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications  | Proficiency with Zoom, Google Docs and Google Sheets preferred.

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
