Description of Work | This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for subsidiaries, leading audit preparation, performing complex reconciliations, analyzing financial statements, and reviewing contracts for applicability under GASB 87 and GASB 96. The Senior Accountant works with campus Sponsored Programs, Accounting offices and university leadership to promote a culture of accountability and professionalism. This position assists in developing, coordinating, and implementing business information and reporting strategies that serve the many constituencies of the University.

Minimum Required Qualifications |
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and financial reporting. Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge is acquired may be considered.Preferred Qualifications |
Preferred QualificationsEducational coursework in in business administration with emphasis in accounting.
Master’s degree
Certification as a Public AccountantWork experience directly related to higher education and government accounting.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate excellent independent judgement and analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills; a track record of timely completion of projects and the ability to responsibly manage competing priorities; success in collaboration and oversight of distributed resources and/or project teams; and commitment to the ideals of a major public research university.
