Overview

:

Princeton University seeks a Senior Instructional Designer to lead the design, development, and delivery of a comprehensive learning and user enablement strategy in support of the University's faculty information system (Interfolio) and forthcoming Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation.

Based in the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, this position reports to the Director of Data Management and Operations and serves as a senior collaborative partner to the Project Manager, Change Readiness Lead, Functional Lead, and Business Solutions Analyst. The position holds institution-wide responsibility for ensuring that faculty, academic department staff, and administrative personnel successfully adopt and confidently utilize new systems and processes. The scope of this role extends beyond training facilitation, encompassing instructional design leadership, stakeholder engagement, support infrastructure development, and knowledge management governance across multiple concurrent initiatives.

This is a two year benefits eligible term role.

Responsibilities

:

Training, Strategy, Design & Implementation
• Lead the end-to-end design and execution of a multi-audience training strategy aligned with project milestones, change management principles, and adult learning best practices
• Serve as the instructional design authority for all training assets, including curriculum frameworks, facilitator guides, e-learning modules, video tutorials, multimedia presentations, and job aids
• Facilitate high-impact training events: both in-person and virtual; for audiences ranging from individual end users to large cross-departmental cohorts across ODoF, academic units, and administrative departments
• Own the full training lifecycle: needs assessment, content development, scheduling, logistics, registration management, delivery, and post-training evaluation and iteration
• Establish and enforce standards for training quality, consistency, and accessibility across all materials and delivery formats
• Proactively assess organizational readiness and skill gaps; adapt training approaches to meet the evolving needs of a complex, matrixed university environment
• Align all instructional content with vendor-supplied resources while contextualizing materials to Princeton's institutional processes and culture
• Build scalable training infrastructure to support both the Interfolio rollout and the broader ERP implementation, ensuring continuity and reusability of assets across initiatives

End User Support & Knowledge Management
• Design and implement a structured end-user support model, including tiered support workflows, escalation paths, and SLA standards, in partnership with Functional, Change Readiness, and Technical Leads
• Serve as the senior point of contact for post-implementation end-user support, resolving complex process and system issues with a high degree of responsiveness and urgency
• Govern the ServiceNow service management environment for this portfolio; tracking, triaging, assigning, and resolving incidents and service requests while producing analytics to inform continuous improvement
• Analyze support trends and usage patterns to surface systemic issues and recommend proactive improvements to training content, communications, and documentation
• Establish and maintain documentation standards across the project team, partnering with subject matter experts to ensure procedural and support materials are accurate, current, and accessible
• Curate and govern end-user knowledge bases, intranet resources, and self-service portals to reduce support dependency and promote user autonomy over time

Strategic & Institutional Contributions
• Develop deep fluency in ODoF business processes, policies, and standard operating procedures to inform training design and end-user support with institutional context
• Contribute to broader change management planning efforts, including stakeholder communications and organizational readiness assessments, as the University prepares for ERP implementation
• Other duties as assigned
