Description
Senior Instructional Designer
Training & Documentation (T&D) | Denver [hybrid]
Jeppesen ForeFlight is looking for a Senior Instructional Designer to join our Digital Training & Documentation (DTD) team. In this role, you will design, build, and continuously improve learning content that supports our Commercial, Business, and General Aviation customers and internal teams. You'll partner closely with subject matter experts, Lead Instructional Designers, and Training Managers to translate complex, fast-changing product and technical information into clear, engaging, and scalable training. This is a hands-on role for someone who is both a strong instructional design practitioner and technically fluent — someone who actively evaluates and implements new tools, including AI-powered authoring and content workflows, to keep our training future-proof as our products and audience evolve. Denver [hybrid]
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain instructional content — eLearning modules, job aids, videos, and documentation — using adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
- Partner with SMEs, Lead IDs, and Training Managers across the GDM and FDS portfolios to scope, storyboard, and build training that meets business and compliance needs.
- Evaluate, pilot, and implement AI-powered instructional design tools and workflows to increase development speed and content quality.
- Build modular, future-proof content architectures — including content reuse and single-sourcing — that scale across products and can be updated quickly as tools, products, and requirements change.
- Act as a technical resource for the team, staying current on emerging instructional technology and AI/ML tools, and recommending adoption where it delivers measurable value.
- Mentor and provide design and technical guidance to junior Instructional Designers.
- Use learner feedback and performance data to measure training effectiveness and drive continuous improvement of content and delivery methods.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing timelines, quality, and stakeholder priorities.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in instructional design, technical training development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience designing and building digital learning content using authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate).
- Experience with LMS administration, xAPI/SCORM, or learning analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with large language model tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) for content generation, summarization, or workflow automation.
- Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to learn new software, systems, and platforms quickly and independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in aviation, software, or another highly technical or regulated industry.
- Track record of building or maintaining a content strategy that anticipates and adapts to emerging AI and learning technology.
- Proven, hands-on experience implementing AI tools or AI-driven workflows using MCPs and automations in an instructional design or content development capacity.
- Prior experience mentoring or leading instructional design projects.
- Pilot or aviation enthusiast.
