About the Role 
The Senior Manager of Insights & Segmentation leads the sourcing, analysis, and synthesis of customer and market data from external research providers and cross-functional teams to develop actionable, strategic insights. This role directly influences marketing strategies, customer targeting, messaging, product positioning, and go-to-market plans by creating and continuously refining customer segments, personas, and buyer journey frameworks. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with proven analytical expertise, accountability for delivering impactful insights, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that drive marketing, sales, and product success. 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Lead Data-Driven Insights Generation: Source, analyze, and synthesize customer, market, and funding data from third-party research firms, industry analysts, and internal sources such as Sales Operations, Product, and Strategy teams to develop comprehensive insights. 
  • Develop and Refine Segmentation Frameworks: Create and continually update customer segmentation models, detailed personas, and buyer journey maps based on multi-source data, ensuring they reflect current market dynamics, customer needs, and decision processes. 
  • Translate Data into Strategic Recommendations: Synthesize insights from diverse sources to generate clear, actionable recommendations for marketing positioning, messaging, campaigns, and product development. 
  • Monitor Market and Sector Trends: Conduct ongoing analysis of industry shifts, funding cycles, regulatory changes, and competitive movements to inform segmentation strategies and market positioning. 
  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Validation: Work closely with cross-functional teams—including Marketing, Sales, Product, Operations, and Strategy—to validate insights, ensure alignment, and incorporate feedback into segmentation frameworks and strategies. 
  • Customer & Market Research Oversight: Manage relationships with external research vendors and internal teams to commission or gather primary and secondary research as needed, ensuring research approaches align with strategic objectives. 
  • Customer Journey & Persona Development: Lead the creation of detailed customer journey maps and persona profiles that highlight key touchpoints, pain points, decision influencers, and funding sources. 
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Own ongoing analysis of segmentation effectiveness, market impact, and customer engagement, providing recommendations for refinement based on feedback and new data. 
  • Reporting & Communication: Develop dashboards, concise reports, and presentations to communicate insights, segmentation strategies, and recommendations clearly to marketing, sales, product teams, and executive leadership. 
  • Supporting Marketing & Sales Enablement: Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to translate insights into targeted messaging, campaign strategies, and sales tools that enhance customer engagement and conversion. 
 
Requirements
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Market Research, Data Analytics, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred. 
  • Have 7+ years of experience in market research, customer insights, or strategic analysis, with a proven track record of delivering actionable insights that influence business decisions. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and refining customer segmentation models, personas, and buyer journey frameworks. 
  • Have exceptional analytical skills, with proficiency in data analysis, visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and database/query languages (e.g., SQL). 
  • Experience working with external research vendors, commissioning primary/secondary research, and synthesizing diverse data sources. 
  • Have a deep understanding of market drivers, funding cycles, decision-making processes, and stakeholder engagement within sectors such as academia, healthcare, or government. 
  • Display excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, with an ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. 
  • Able to collaborate effectively across teams and influence decision-makers at various levels. 
  • Have high level of accountability, organization, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  •  Experience in B2B markets, go-to-market strategy, or product positioning. (Valued but not required).
  • Have familiarity with research and analysis software, market intelligence platforms, and CRM tools. (Highly valued). 
  • Display knowledge of industry-specific funding, regulatory, or operational factors relevant to target sectors.
