Job Description
Opportunity at a Glance
 The Senior Manager, Project Management is responsible for leading a team of project managers who lead multiple highly complex project initiatives consisting of one or more project teams across the institution or vertical.  This person will work closely with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, Senior Management, Business Sponsors, IT and project team staff. They have responsibility for overall scheduling, budgeting and timeline management.  The Senior Manager, Project Management will also manage other resources (as appropriate) to ensure project delivery in support of business and project objectives. This position will oversee all accreditation, academic, marketing, financial, real estate and IT implementation activities within the scope of assigned initiatives
 
 Responsibilities
  • Lead business growth initiatives across the institution or vertical using project management and Six Sigma process improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Lead a team of project managers who:
  • Develop and refine processes and reports that lead to new academic programs or offerings, new IT systems, business innovation, competitive advantage, efficiencies/savings, and customer service improvements.
  • Manage multiple business projects according to plan; measure, monitor, and report progress. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Prepare business cases, project charter documents and white papers to define and provide the rationale for programs/initiatives.
  • Partner with IT,institution or vertical project teams involved in defining, developing, acquiring and implementing new information tools, or refinements to existing systems.
  • Develop detailed project plans that contain key activities, timelines, and resource requirements needed to achieve project objectives while adhering to the defined project processes.
  • Coordinate and manage all projects related to campus construction, remodeling, or real estate-related capital expenditures
  • Manage project and process improvement teams and related implementation activities according to project plans in a matrix organization.
  • Negotiate, manage, and balance use of IT and other internal resources.
  • Coach and develop team members.
  • Pro-actively manage and coordinate a diverse team to resolve project issues or barriers. Escalate as necessary to appropriate business or senior management.
  • Communicate project progress and issues to Senior Management and stakeholders.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
  • BS/BA degree required. Master's Degree Preferred
  • 8+ years of full lifecycle project management experience or equivalent management experience. 
  • Six Sigma background or training.
  • Experience in an academic enterprise.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and work in a fast-paced environment with many initiatives.
  • Ability to manage a variety of business resources.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Proficient with project management practices and tools;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and determine effective business and alternative solutions.
  • Strong process improvement experience.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to advance projects while managing multiple initiatives.
  • Capability to influence and instill credibility in sponsors, peers and subordinates by meeting project milestones, deadlines and budget.
  • Understanding of project financial management and IT implications and operational considerations.
  • PMP certification.

Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $110,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
