Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Network Engineer with deep expertise in enterprise and cloud networking. This role serves as a senior technical contributor for our Cloud Operations organization, responsible for implementing resilient, available, and secure network designs across VMware private cloud and AWS public cloud environments.
This individual will actively participate in and support design conversations with application, database, and systems teams—covering load balancing, segmentation, DMZ, and air-gapped architectures. Beyond implementation, they will provide escalation support alongside senior leadership for critical troubleshooting, expected to rapidly diagnose and resolve complex issues impacting production. This role reports to the head of Data Center Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Architecture Support
- Participate in network design sessions with application, systems, and security teams
- Implement solutions for multi-tier applications, air-gapped networks, and hybrid cloud integrations (VMware + AWS)
- Support network segmentation, routing, and access control implementation per established guidelines
Operations & Advanced Troubleshooting
- Serve as senior-level SME for complex network incidents, with rapid fault isolation capabilities (e.g., IP conflicts, routing loops, misconfigured firewalls)
- Maintain and optimize F5 load balancers, Cisco routers/switches, and Cisco UCS network infrastructure
- Provide detailed root cause analysis (RCA) on network-related issues with clear recommendations escalated through proper channels
- Support monitoring and alerting systems for network infrastructure, ensuring anomalies are identified and addressed
Cloud & Automation
- Engineer and support AWS VPC, Transit Gateway, and hybrid VPN connectivity
- Assist in automation of network provisioning, monitoring, and validation initiatives
Technical Support & Collaboration
- Follow and help refine established best practices for IP management, network documentation, and change control
- Support knowledge sharing and help troubleshoot complex technical issues for system engineering teams
- Support vendor relationships and participate in technical discussions with service providers and managed service partners
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in enterprise networking with both data center and cloud exposure
- Hands-on expertise in:
- Cisco networking (routers, switches, UCS)
- F5 load balancers (LTM, GTM, SSL offload, iRules)
- Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- VPN and secure connectivity (site-to-site, client VPNs, air-gapped networks)
- AWS networking (Transit Gateway, VPC, Direct Connect, hybrid architectures)
- Proven track record supporting troubleshooting in complex enterprise environments
- Experience participating in design conversations with application/system engineers
- Strong communication skills—able to explain network implications to non-network teams
- CCNP certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- CCIE, F5-CTS, or AWS Advanced Networking Specialty certifications
- Experience with network automation tools and scripting
- Background in both traditional data center and cloud networking architectures
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, CloudWatch, etc.)

The salary range for this role is $115,000 - $135,000 per year, based on experience, skills, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, this role includes a bonus, personalized PTO, and comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, 401k, and much more!
