Position Overview
The Senior Product Designer will own the end-to-end design process, creating intuitive, accessible, and functional experiences across our product ecosystem. Collaborating with product managers, engineers, and researchers, this role combines strategic thinking and attention to detail to solve complex problems. The Senior Product Designer will play a key role in shaping IM’s digital products and the UX team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype elegant solutions focused on improving students’ engagement with problem-based mathematics curriculum.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers and product managers to develop feasible designs from concept to implementation.
- Lead the design strategy of feature initiatives, bringing knowledge of best practices and design patterns across edtech industries.
- Conduct user research like user interviews, usability tests, and surveys to understand user motivations and inform design approaches.
- Contribute to the global design system and define the visual styles and patterns that ensure a cohesive user experience.
- Document and maintain design specifications, including detailed annotations, interactive states, and accessibility considerations.
- Identify opportunities to improve the UX team’s processes and systems.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- At least 5 years working in UX and product design roles, which may also encompass related experience such as UI design, interaction design, user research, service design, and graphic design.
- Demonstrated experience with end-to-end product design and the ability to create approachable, intuitive interface design.
- Experience working with engineers and product managers in building and shipping applications or software.
- Proficiency in product design and prototyping tools like Figma.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, relationship-building, collaborative environment.
- Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the USA.
Preferred:
- A strong understanding of software engineering workflows and principles is encouraged.
- Understanding of accessible design principles.
- Experience in the K-12 education space is a plus.
- Experience working in a remote environment is a plus.
- Strong computer skills with cloud-based systems, especially Google Workspace applications, Asana, Notion, Zoom, and Slack.
