About the Team
The AP Classroom product team is responsible for one of College Board's most widely used and impactful digital platforms. Since its launch in 2019, AP Classroom has become a core part of the AP experience, supporting180,000+ teachers and 3.6M+ students across 17,000+ schools, with over 1M daily users during the academic year.
AP Classroom provides instructional resources, formative assessments, and actionable insights that support teaching and learning in AP courses. It is a mission-critical platform that enables classroom instruction at scale and generates data that informs how students learn and where they need support.
Within Digital Product, we are focused on continuously improving established, high-scale platforms like AP Classroom to ensure they remain reliable, performant, and deeply valuable to educators and students.
About the Opportunity
As a Senior Product Manager, AP Classroom Platform, you are responsible for leading the strategy through execution of a mature, high-scale platform that plays a critical role in the AP experience. You will bring a data-driven, user-centric, and pragmatic approach to delivering meaningful improvements for educators and students while maintaining operational excellence at scale.
This role requires balancing user experience improvements, platform reliability, and thoughtful prioritization of investments. You will focus on reducing user friction, supporting evolving AP course and exam needs, and ensuring the platform continues to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes for educators, students, and College Board.
In this role, you will:
Define and Drive Product Strategy and Vision (40%)
Define and evolve a clear product strategy that strengthens AP Classroom's value for teachers, students, and administrators.
Develop and maintain a roadmap focused on high-impact improvements, balancing user needs, platform health, and organizational priorities.
Prioritize initiatives that reduce user friction, simplify workflows, improve usability, and optimize the platform for performance at scale.
Ensure the platform continues to support and align with changes to AP courses and exams, adapting functionality as program needs evolve.
Use platform data and user insights to identify and prioritize improvements that deliver measurable value.
Establish clear principles for prioritization and tradeoffs to guide time and resource investment decisions.
Align stakeholders across the AP Program and Digital Product organization to ensure cohesive execution.
Lead Reliable, High-Quality Product Delivery (40%)
Drive execution of the roadmap using Agile/Scrum practices, ensuring consistent delivery of prioritized improvements.
Ensure platformperformance, reliability, scalability, and peak-season readiness remain top priorities.
Oversee backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and release management to maintain a steady cadence of meaningful improvements.
Partner with engineering, design, and content teams to define clear, actionable requirements and ensure high-quality delivery.
Lead targeted discovery and user research efforts to identify and verify friction points and validate improvements through prototypes, experiments, and other means.
Use analytics and feedback loops to continuously refine the product and ensure measurable gains in usability and effectiveness.
Maintain strong operational rigor, quickly triaging issues and proactively managing risks.
Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Accessibility, Security, Data Governance) to ensure compliance.
Communicate Value, Insights, and Platform Health (20%)
Provide clear, outcome-focused updates to leadership and stakeholders that communicate measurable impact, platform performance, and risks and share insights, and demonstrate how roadmap delivery advances College Board's strategic goals.
Communicate how product decisions drive improvements in user experience, platform quality, and program alignment.
Translate user behavior data and insights into actionable recommendations and priorities.
Engage with educators and internal stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure alignment with instructional needs.

AP Classroom maintains exceptional reliability, scalability, and performance, particularly during peak usage periods.
The product experience shows measurable reductions in user friction, improving efficiency and satisfaction for educators and students.
The platform consistently supports evolving AP course and exam requirements.
The roadmap reflects disciplined prioritization, focusing on meaningful, impactful, and measurable improvements.
Product decisions are consistently grounded in evidence from data analysis, user insights, and clear tradeoff frameworks.
Product and engineering teams remain engaged, productive, and aligned, delivering consistent value.
Stakeholders have strong confidence in platform health and execution.
About You
To qualify for this role, you must have:
8+ years of product management or related experience, including leadership of large-scale digital platforms (experience in K-12 EdTech is a plus).
Experience considering performance, scalability, and reliability in high-traffic environments (e.g., millions of users, peak season spikes), including making product trade-offs that support system stability under load.
Proven ability to come into an existing product/domain (e.g., EdTech, education systems, or similar) and build meaningful context quickly to contribute value.
Experience identifying user needs and diagnosing issues through data, research, and feedback, and delivering validated improvements to user experience and workflows.
Comfort leveraging product analytics, experimentation, and feedback loops to prioritize work, inform decision-making, validate solutions, and measure outcomes (experience with Adobe CJA and SQL a plus).
Deep experience with Agile/Scrum, including owning backlogs, writing clear user stories, and partnering closely with engineering/design to drive consistent, high-quality sprint delivery. Jira experience is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise communications that build shared understanding and alignment.
Strong track record of influencing without authority and working effectively with engineering, design, content, and program stakeholders.
The ability to travel 3-6 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business.

About Our Process

A Thoughtful Approach to Compensation
The hiring range for this role is $120,000 - $190,000.
