Our Research Team, led by our Founder and Chief Scientist, drives the company’s most ambitious and mission-critical work, transforming cutting-edge learning science into real-world impact through partnerships, grants, and applied research initiatives.

As Senior Project Manager, Research, you will serve as the connective tissue between our internal teams and external research partners. You’ll lead project planning and coordination for large, grant-funded initiatives that sit at the intersection of research, product development, and engineering, ensuring our commitments are delivered on time, on scope, and with excellence.

This role combines strategic coordination, technical project management, and relationship stewardship. It requires comfort navigating ambiguity, translating complex scopes into actionable plans, and driving alignment among diverse stakeholders.

You’ll work in close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Research leadership. While you won’t directly manage staff, you’ll influence and coordinate contributors across teams and functions to move critical work forward.

What Your Day Will Look Like
  • Translate research grant scopes into clear, actionable project plans with defined milestones, deliverables, and success metrics.
  • Lead day-to-day execution for multiple concurrent research initiatives, ensuring alignment with both funder expectations and internal priorities.
  • Coordinate across research, product, and engineering teams to manage dependencies, timelines, and communication.
  • Track progress using tools like Jira, Asana, and shared dashboards to maintain visibility and accountability.
  • Anticipate risks, resolve blockers, and escalate challenges to leadership in a proactive manner.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to align technical development with research goals and grant requirements.
  • Support proposal development, documentation, and reporting for current and future grant opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements to ensure accurate and timely progress.
  • Establish communication and decision-making cadences that promote transparency and shared ownership.
  • Monitor project budgets, staffing allocations, and contract timelines in collaboration with finance and legal partners to ensure timely execution.
  • Uphold scope integrity and focus across initiatives, helping teams balance innovation with operational discipline.

What Should Be In Your Bookbag
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects in research, product development, or software environments.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, grant-funded research, or applied learning science projects.
  • Demonstrated success in translating vision and strategy into structured project plans and measurable results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project).
  • Skilled in relationship management, facilitation, and consensus building across distributed teams.
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed environment with both internal and external partners.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and calm under pressure, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Background or interest in education research, learning science, or EdTech innovation preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Education, or related discipline); advanced degree a plus.
