The Role

What are the main responsibilities for this role?

  • Build the core product and system architecture for a next-gen education agent
  • Design and ship agentic workflows across planning, tool use, memory, evals, feedback loops, and production operations
  • Own difficult engineering problems end to end, from prototype to production
  • Build robust backend and infra foundations for AI-native products
  • Work across the stack when needed, but go deep on backend systems and infrastructure
  • Partner closely with product and design to turn ambiguous ideas into working products fast
  • Push the team toward higher engineering leverage, better abstractions, and faster iteration loops

What skills and experience are required?

  • Hardcore technical ability
  • Strong full-stack skills, with especially deep experience in backend and infrastructure engineering
  • The kind of engineer people describe as a 10x builder
  • Strong product instinct, not just implementation ability
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving with very high ownership
  • Able to design clean systems, make sharp tradeoffs, and execute fast without lowering the bar
  • Deep curiosity about AI agents, developer tooling, evals, orchestration, and how modern engineering is changing
  • Real excitement for exploring and applying Harness Engineering, not just reading about it

Strong Plus If You Have

  • Experience building AI agents, copilot-style products, workflows, or internal automation systems
  • Experience with LLM application infrastructure, eval systems, retrieval, tool execution, or observability
  • Experience building developer platforms, infra products, or backend-heavy systems at scale
  • Startup experience, especially 0-to-1 product building
  • Interest in education, learning systems, or personalized AI products
