SUMMARY
The Senior Software Engineer, Communities will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering cutting-edge eCommerce solutions using Magento 2.x. This role is primarily focused on backend development and will work in close collaboration with our long-term offshore dev vendor partner team to support both immediate feature initiatives and long-term platform modernization efforts. As a key member of the Scrum team, the engineer will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across product, UX, QA, and engineering. Responsibilities include contributing to solution design, driving code quality, and ensuring timely project delivery. While the role is backend-focused, the engineer will also support architectural planning and participate in the broader engineering community. The engineer will mentor other developers when applicable, design innovative solutions to complex technical challenges, contribute to technical documentation, and engage in code reviews and quality assurance processes. The role also requires coordination with the DevOps team to ensure seamless deployments and maintain operational stability. Success in this position requires deep expertise in Magento architecture, PHP, API development, and familiarity with cloud platforms and microservice architectures. Experience with Vue.js is a plus but not a core requirement.
 
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Software Development and Maintenance: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, internal & offshore vendor dev teams to develop and maintain scalable, high-quality software solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

YOU HAVE IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE/ARE:
  • 7+ years Magento development
  • 7+ years PHP development
  • 5+ years CMS development
  • Experience with enterprise-level Magento project
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Magento Architecture: Advanced understanding and application of Magento architecture.
  • Object-Oriented Programming: Advanced proficiency in object-oriented programming principles and practices.
  • PHP and Unit Testing: Advanced proficiency in PHP development and unit testing.
  • Content Management Systems: Advanced proficiency in CMS platforms for building templates and front-end components (Craft preferred).
  • Accessibility Considerations: Experience with accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Mentoring: Ability to mentor and guide junior developers.
  • Cloud Platforms: Intermediate proficiency in at least one cloud platform.
  • Microservice Architecture: Foundational knowledge of microservice architecture.
