The Fereidouni Lab at Emory University is a collaborative research group focused on advancing digital pathology. We aim to address unmet clinical needs and develop cutting-edge imaging technologies by leveraging the full potential of artificial intelligence for advanced diagnostics. We are dedicated to developing and validating innovative tools that enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes, particularly in diseases like cancer. One of our key achievements is the development of Fluorescence Imitating Brightfield Imaging (FIBI), a slide-free imaging technique that enables rapid, high-resolution tissue analysis directly in the operating room.
 
We collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, bringing together expertise from biomedical engineering, AI, and clinical research to drive innovative solutions in modern medicine.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION: 
  • Identifies, designs, develops, implements, and revises software applications to meet business needs. 
  • Supports software applications and associated operating systems. 
  • Programs, analyzes and writes specifications. 
  • Devises solutions to system problems. 
  • Develops and tests applications; makes revisions to improve functionality. 
  • Develops and analyzes the effectiveness of new applications and test procedures. 
  • Writes and edits reports to provide recommendations, conclusions and other data.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
  • Build and maintain desktop applications using C# and .NET (WPF or WinForms)
  • Design clear and effective UI/UX for lab personnel and researchers
  • Interface with microscope systems and imaging hardware
  • Integrate pre-trained AI models into imaging workflows
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver tools that are robust and user-friendly
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, math, engineering or a related field and three years of related experience in programming and software systems or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of software development in a research institution context
  • Experience working in a research lab or biomedical environment
  •  Familiarity with digital pathology, microscopy, or image analysis
  • Knowledge of large image formats like TIFF or SVS
  •  Understanding of GPU acceleration or multithreading in C#
  • Solid understanding of UI/UX design principles
  •  Familiarity with hardware integration or device control
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
