Join the Creative Play Lab and invent radical new play opportunities and never-seen-before creative experiences for LEGO® fans of today and tomorrow! As a leader and senior individual contributor role in our Hardware Engineering group, you'll be operating on a global scale within the Creative Play Lab organization in Product Innovation and Design at the LEGO Group in Boston! 
  
Core Responsibilities 
  • Serve as accountable technical leader of global (North America, Europe, Asia) multi-functional engineering teams as we develop and integrate complex products/platforms involving numerous sub-systems (e.g. microelectronic, mechanical, firmware, other software) to deliver on outstanding end-to-end play experiences. 
  • Be comfortable leading both early stage research projects and late stage operational improvement projects.   
  • Lead successful cross-functional design and strategic development reviews that involve highly complex system-level decisions/trade-offs.    
  • Influence by demonstrating excellence in multi-functional team leadership, engineering, collaboration, innovation, risk management/mitigation, and delivery. 
  • Work with both internal and external technical staff spanning multiple engineering and operations functions to deliver integrated, manufacturable, world class solutions to the market. 
  • Ensure solutions delivered meet end-user needs, safety/regulatory/quality requirements, and all other agreed-to business requirements.

The Senior Staff Engineer, Systems Engineering plays a senior individual contributor role on our Systems Engineering team within our Hardware Engineering group.  This group operates on a global scale within the Creative Play Lab Engineering Capabilities which in turn is part of Product Innovation and Design at the LEGO Group.  The role is based in Boston, where the LEGO Group is expanding our global engineering footprint to help advance groundbreaking innovations that will redefine the future of play for the builders of tomorrow. 
 
Do you have what it takes? 
  • A builder with passion for creatively using technology as a vehicle to deliver truly awesome play experiences to children around the world.  
  • Strong proven experience in Systems Engineering/Technical Lead roles that involve cross-functional engineering leadership from idea stage to mass production on high complexity connected device projects
  • Experience that spans across diverse engineering disciplines as well as product development and organizational process domains. 
  • Strong experience in modern high-volume combined hardware/software system development in relevant markets (e.g. consumer electronics, robotics, medical device, automotive, or similar). 
  • Expertise navigating system-level interdependencies and risks to drive smart decisions with a diverse set of stakeholders.  
  • Evidence of exceptional capabilities in creative technical problem solving in modern hardware/software systems, coupled with well-balanced team leadership skills. 
  • Track record of strong written and verbal communications skills on global engineering efforts involving both internal and 3rd party partner companies.   
  • Ability to travel as necessary, roughly 20-30 days per year, as part of our global team. 

Compensation
The salary for this position has a range of $134,750.00 - $202,126.00 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalisation of the employment offer.
