As a Senior Student Success Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic journey of students by providing personalized support, strategic guidance, and meaningful engagement opportunities that foster success, persistence, and belonging.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will work directly with students to ensure they are equipped to thrive academically and personally. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide individualized academic planning support from admission through graduation
- Guide students in developing effective learning strategies and achieving academic goals
- Monitor student progress and proactively identify opportunities for intervention and support
- Offer mentoring that enhances the student experience and promotes retention
- Support orientation, registration, and transition-related processes
- Connect students with campus resources and services to meet their academic and personal needs
- Encourage engagement in the academic and co-curricular life of the university
- Partner with colleagues across departments to deliver coordinated, student-focused services

About Us
As part of the continued growth in the partnership between the College of Science and the Daniels School of Business, we have created a new Science Innovation Learning Community for students of both colleges. In future, these students will also participate in the Integrated Science and Business major. A new Senior Student Success Specialist is needed to work with students in this and other exciting programs in the College of Science to drive student success while at Purdue and beyond.
What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree, Science or Business background
- Five (5) years of experience in higher-education program administration, student engagement, or experiential learning
- Managerial experience in science-based industries
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across academic units and with diverse stakeholders
Preferred:
- A combination of bachelor’s and master’s degrees in science and business areas (i.e. biology B.S. and M.B.A.) or Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience with interdisciplinary programs that bridge science and business education
- Experience managing mentorship programs or alumni networks
Skills Required:
- Program development and management; student advising; collaboration; relationship building; strong written and oral communication; working in interdisciplinary teams; use of data for analysis and assessment; intercultural competencies; ability to train
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in academic and co-curricular settings
Preferred:
- Knowledge of experiential learning models, residential programs, and student leadership development
- Familiarity with study abroad program management
