We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our Student Systems team in supporting the Ellucian Banner Student Information System (SIS) and related applications (BDMS, Degree Works, ePrint, FormFusion). This role partners with stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions, resolve complex issues, and lead system upgrades, integrations, and special projects.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support and enhance Banner SIS and related applications.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve system issues.
  • Consult with stakeholders to gather requirements and design solutions.
  • Lead testing and implementation for upgrades and special projects.
  • Maintain clear documentation and follow best practices in incident/change management.
  • Collaborate with team members to standardize processes and ensure system reliability.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of student systems (Banner experience preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with testing, documentation, and system upgrades.
Preferred: Experience with BDMS, Degree Works, ePrint, or FormFusion; knowledge of higher ed business processes; familiarity with ITIL practices.

  • Wide-ranging knowledge of capabilities, techniques, and intricacies of a Student Information System – including deep knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas: Admissions, Financial Aid, Student, Student Accounts Receivable, or auxiliary areas.
  • Possess the capability to understand and carry out complex technical analysis, facilitate instructions, and assess requests. Aptitude to communicate clearly and concisely – including the creation and execution of presentations varying in size. Ability to work effectively with users, business partners, vendors, IT personnel, and all levels of management.
  • Competence to identify and resolve differing levels of systematic issues.
  • Ability to plan, direct, instruct, and review the work of technical personnel as well as facilitate complex technical projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of functional and technical documentation, with the ability to provide assistance in development.
  • Working knowledge of information systems software such as internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software, as well as basic PC applications and operations – including Word, Excel, and other MS Office products. Project management skills.

  • Provide Banner SIS production incident triage/resolution as well as problem analysis/resolution support (tier 2) for assigned modules.
  • Collaborate with the Student Systems BA Manager, Business Analyst departmental partners, and program coordinator to review/maintain operational and service level metrics for trends, patterns, prioritization, improvements, and training needs.
  • Build ad-hoc Banner queries to support customers and other end-users.

  • Collaborates with functional and technical analysts to define, analyze, develop, test, and implement system improvements and functionality in accordance with established change control and release management processes that meet business requirements and objectives.
  • Identify current processes and procedures that are candidates for improvement and lead the implementation of future configurations that provide gains in efficiency and cost savings. Document technical requirements, system specifications, use cases, workflow diagrams, interface designs, and test plans. Documents Banner business processes, testing scenarios/scripts, job aids, and end-user communications.
  • Develop complex SIS solutions utilizing Banner and other relevant technologies.
  • Understand interdependencies within the application module, components, and related third-party products.
  • Leads the definition of system scope and objectives based on user-defined needs and prepares detailed functional specifications. Directs the design and implementation of multiple internal or external programs/projects that are complex in nature.
